Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Kahf Verse 48
Al-Kahf [18]: 48 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَعُرِضُوْا عَلٰى رَبِّكَ صَفًّاۗ لَقَدْ جِئْتُمُوْنَا كَمَا خَلَقْنٰكُمْ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۢ ۖبَلْ زَعَمْتُمْ اَلَّنْ نَّجْعَلَ لَكُمْ مَّوْعِدًا (الكهف : ١٨)

- وَعُرِضُوا۟
- And they will be presented
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- before
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- your Lord
- ṣaffan
- صَفًّا
- (in) rows
- laqad
- لَّقَدْ
- "Certainly
- ji'tumūnā
- جِئْتُمُونَا
- you have come to Us

- an appointment"
Transliteration:
Wa 'uridoo 'alaa Rabbika saffaa, laqad ji'tumoonaa kamaa khalaqnaakum awala marrah; bal za'amtum allannaj'ala lakum maw'idaa(QS. al-Kahf:48)
English / Sahih Translation:
And they will be presented before your Lord in rows, [and He will say], "You have certainly come to Us just as We created you the first time. But you claimed that We would never make for you an appointment." (QS. Al-Kahf, ayah 48)

And they shall be presented lined-up before your Lord. (It will be said to them,) “Lo! You have come to Us just as We had created you for the first time, while you claimed that We would not make any appointed time for you.”

And they were displayed/exhibited on (to) your Lord (in) a row/line/arranged (and told): "You had come to Us as We created you (on the) first/beginning time , but you claimed/alleged that We not make for you an appointment."

And they will be set before your Lord, aligned. (He will say:) "Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time. Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us)."

They will be ranged before your Lord, standing in rows and He will say to them, "Now you have come to Us as We created you at first. But you supposed that We would not appoint the time for the fulfillment of Our promise to you."

They will be presented before your Lord in a row. “You have come to Us as We created you the first time. Although you claimed We would not set a meeting for you.”
Tafsir jalalayn
And they shall be presented before your Lord in ranks (saffan is a circumstantial qualifier) in other words, ranged so that every community is in a row [on its own], and it shall be said to them; `Verily you have come to Us just as We created you the first time, that is to say, individually, barefoot, naked and uncircumcised; and it shall be said to the deniers of the Resurrection; rather you claimed that (a [of allan] is an, softened in place of the hardened one, in other words [it is to be understood as] annahu) We would not appoint for you a tryst', for resurrection.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَعُرِضُوا عَلَى رَبِّكَ صَفًّا
And they will be set before your Lord, aligned.
This may mean that all of creation will stand before Allah in one row, as Allah says;
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَـيِكَةُ صَفّاً لاَّ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلاَّ مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَـنُ وَقَالَ صَوَاباً
The Day that Ar-Ruh (Jibril) and the angels will stand aligned, they will not speak except him whom the Most Gracious (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right); (78;38)
or it may mean that they will stand in rows, as Allah says;
وَجَأءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفّاً صَفّاً
And your Lord comes with the angels in rows. (89;22)
لَّقَدْ جِيْتُمُونَا كَمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ
Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time.
This is a rebuke to those who denied the Hereafter, a reprimand before all creation.
This is why Allah says to them;
بَلْ زَعَمْتُمْ أَلَّن نَّجْعَلَ لَكُم مَّوْعِدًا
Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us).,
meaning, you did not think that this would happen to you or that it would come to pass
