Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Kahf Verse 43

Al-Kahf [18]: 43 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَمْ تَكُنْ لَّهٗ فِئَةٌ يَّنْصُرُوْنَهٗ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَمَا كَانَ مُنْتَصِرًاۗ (الكهف : ١٨)

(to) help him

(he) supported

Transliteration:

Wa lam takul lahoo fi'atuny yansuroonahoo min doonil laahi wa maa kaana muntasiraa (QS. al-Kahf:43)

English / Sahih Translation:

And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor could he defend himself. (QS. Al-Kahf, ayah 43)

There were no supporters for him beside Allah, who could come to his help, nor was he able to defend himself.

English Literal

And (there) was not for him a group they give him victory from other than God, and he was not a victorious.

Tafsir jalalayn

But there was no (read takun or yakun) party, [no] persons, to help him, besides God, at the moment of its destruction, nor could he help himself, at the moment of its destruction, [all by] himself.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلَمْ تَكُن لَّهُ فِيَةٌ

and he could only say;"Would that I had ascribed no partners to my Lord!" And he had no group of men,

meaning a clan or children, as he had vainly boasted,

يَنصُرُونَهُ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مُنتَصِرًا
