Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Kahf Verse 23

Al-Kahf [18]: 23 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَا تَقُوْلَنَّ لِشَا۟يْءٍ اِنِّيْ فَاعِلٌ ذٰلِكَ غَدًاۙ (الكهف : ١٨)

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
taqūlanna
تَقُولَنَّ
say
lishāy'in
لِشَا۟ىْءٍ
of anything
innī
إِنِّى
"Indeed I
fāʿilun
فَاعِلٌ
will do
dhālika
ذَٰلِكَ
that
ghadan
غَدًا
tomorrow"

Transliteration:

Wa laa taqoolanna lishai'in innee faa'ilun zaalika ghadaa (QS. al-Kahf:23)

English / Sahih Translation:

And never say of anything, "Indeed, I will do that tomorrow," (QS. Al-Kahf, ayah 23)

And never say about anything, “I will do this tomorrow,”

Some say, "They were three, and the fourth of them was their dog:" and some say, "Five, and the sixth of them was their dog:" guessing at the unseen: and some say, "Seven, and the eighth of them was their dog." Say, "My Lord knows best the number of them; none knows them but a few. Enter not, therefore, into disputation concerning the matter, except what is clear, and consult not any one of them to pronounce concerning them.

And never say regarding something, that is, for the purpose of [doing] something, `I will indeed do that tomorrow', in other words, [I will do something] at some future [point] in time,

Allah says;

وَلَا تَقُولَنَّ لِشَيْءٍ إِنِّي فَاعِلٌ ذَلِكَ غَدًا
