Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Kahf Verse 101
Al-Kahf [18]: 101 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
ۨالَّذِيْنَ كَانَتْ اَعْيُنُهُمْ فِيْ غِطَاۤءٍ عَنْ ذِكْرِيْ وَكَانُوْا لَا يَسْتَطِيْعُوْنَ سَمْعًا ࣖ (الكهف : ١٨)

Transliteration:
Allazeena kaanat a'yunuhum fee ghitaaa'in 'an zikree wa kaanoo la yastatee'oona sam'aa(QS. al-Kahf:101)
English / Sahih Translation:
Those whose eyes had been within a cover [removed] from My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. (QS. Al-Kahf, ayah 101)

Tafsir jalalayn
those [disbelievers] whose eyes (alladhna knat a`yunuhum substitutes for al-kfirna, `the disbelievers') were masked from My remembrance, namely, the Qur'n, such that they were blind, unable to be guided thereby, and who could not [bear to] hear, that is to say, they were unable to listen to what the Prophet used to recite to them, out of spite for him, and so they did not believe therein.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
الَّذِينَ كَانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ فِي غِطَاء عَن ذِكْرِي
(To) those whose eyes had been under a covering from My Reminder,
meaning, they neglected it, turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to it, refusing to accept guidance and follow the truth.
As Allah says;
وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَـنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَاناً فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ
And whosoever turns away blindly from the remembrance of the Most Gracious, We appoint for him a Shaytan to be a companion for him. (43;36)
And here Allah says;
وَكَانُوا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَمْعًا
and they could not bear to hear (it).
meaning, they did not understand the commands and prohibitions of Allah.
Then He says
