(The Cave)

41

اَوْ يُصْبِحَ مَاۤؤُهَا غَوْرًا فَلَنْ تَسْتَطِيْعَ لَهٗ طَلَبًا ٤١

aw
أَوْ
Or
yuṣ'biḥa
يُصْبِحَ
will become
māuhā
مَآؤُهَا
its water
ghawran
غَوْرًا
sunken
falan
فَلَن
so never
tastaṭīʿa
تَسْتَطِيعَ
you will be able
lahu
لَهُۥ
to find it"
ṭalaban
طَلَبًا
to find it"
Or its water will become sunken [into the earth], so you would never be able to seek it." (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 41)
Tafsir
42

وَاُحِيْطَ بِثَمَرِهٖ فَاَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلٰى مَآ اَنْفَقَ فِيْهَا وَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلٰى عُرُوْشِهَا وَيَقُوْلُ يٰلَيْتَنِيْ لَمْ اُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّيْٓ اَحَدًا ٤٢

wa-uḥīṭa
وَأُحِيطَ
And were surrounded
bithamarihi
بِثَمَرِهِۦ
his fruits
fa-aṣbaḥa
فَأَصْبَحَ
so he began
yuqallibu
يُقَلِّبُ
twisting
kaffayhi
كَفَّيْهِ
his hands
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
مَآ
what
anfaqa
أَنفَقَ
he (had) spent
fīhā
فِيهَا
on it
wahiya
وَهِىَ
while it (had)
khāwiyatun
خَاوِيَةٌ
collapsed
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
on
ʿurūshihā
عُرُوشِهَا
its trellises
wayaqūlu
وَيَقُولُ
and he said
yālaytanī
يَٰلَيْتَنِى
"Oh! I wish
lam
لَمْ
I had not associated
ush'rik
أُشْرِكْ
I had not associated
birabbī
بِرَبِّىٓ
with my Lord
aḥadan
أَحَدًا
anyone"
And his fruits were encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, "Oh, I wish I had not associated with my Lord anyone." (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 42)
Tafsir
43

وَلَمْ تَكُنْ لَّهٗ فِئَةٌ يَّنْصُرُوْنَهٗ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ وَمَا كَانَ مُنْتَصِرًاۗ ٤٣

walam
وَلَمْ
And not
takun
تَكُن
was
lahu
لَّهُۥ
for him
fi-atun
فِئَةٌ
a group
yanṣurūnahu
يَنصُرُونَهُۥ
(to) help him
min
مِن
other than
dūni
دُونِ
other than
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
wamā
وَمَا
and not
kāna
كَانَ
was
muntaṣiran
مُنتَصِرًا
(he) supported
And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor could he defend himself. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 43)
Tafsir
44

هُنَالِكَ الْوَلَايَةُ لِلّٰهِ الْحَقِّۗ هُوَ خَيْرٌ ثَوَابًا وَّخَيْرٌ عُقْبًا ࣖ ٤٤

hunālika
هُنَالِكَ
There
l-walāyatu
ٱلْوَلَٰيَةُ
the protection
lillahi
لِلَّهِ
(is) from Allah
l-ḥaqi
ٱلْحَقِّۚ
the True
huwa
هُوَ
He
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(is the) best
thawāban
ثَوَابًا
(to) reward
wakhayrun
وَخَيْرٌ
and (the) best
ʿuq'ban
عُقْبًا
(for) the final end
There the authority is [completely] for Allah, the Truth. He is best in reward and best in outcome. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 44)
Tafsir
45

وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَّثَلَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَاۤءٍ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ مِنَ السَّمَاۤءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِهٖ نَبَاتُ الْاَرْضِ فَاَصْبَحَ هَشِيْمًا تَذْرُوْهُ الرِّيٰحُ ۗوَكَانَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُّقْتَدِرًا ٤٥

wa-iḍ'rib
وَٱضْرِبْ
And present
lahum
لَهُم
to them
mathala
مَّثَلَ
the example
l-ḥayati
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of) the life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَا
(of) the world
kamāin
كَمَآءٍ
like water
anzalnāhu
أَنزَلْنَٰهُ
which We send down
mina
مِنَ
from
l-samāi
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
the sky
fa-ikh'talaṭa
فَٱخْتَلَطَ
then mingles
bihi
بِهِۦ
with it
nabātu
نَبَاتُ
(the) vegetation
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
(of) the earth
fa-aṣbaḥa
فَأَصْبَحَ
then becomes
hashīman
هَشِيمًا
dry stalks
tadhrūhu
تَذْرُوهُ
it (is) scattered
l-riyāḥu
ٱلرِّيَٰحُۗ
(by) the winds
wakāna
وَكَانَ
And Allah
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
And Allah
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
over
kulli
كُلِّ
every
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
muq'tadiran
مُّقْتَدِرًا
(is) All Able
And present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allah is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 45)
Tafsir
46

اَلْمَالُ وَالْبَنُوْنَ زِيْنَةُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۚ وَالْبٰقِيٰتُ الصّٰلِحٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَّخَيْرٌ اَمَلًا ٤٦

al-mālu
ٱلْمَالُ
The wealth
wal-banūna
وَٱلْبَنُونَ
and children
zīnatu
زِينَةُ
(are) adornment
l-ḥayati
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ
(of) the life
l-dun'yā
ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ
(of) the world
wal-bāqiyātu
وَٱلْبَٰقِيَٰتُ
But the enduring
l-ṣāliḥātu
ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ
good deeds
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(are) better
ʿinda
عِندَ
near
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
thawāban
ثَوَابًا
(for) reward
wakhayrun
وَخَيْرٌ
and better
amalan
أَمَلًا
(for) hope
Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 46)
Tafsir
47

وَيَوْمَ نُسَيِّرُ الْجِبَالَ وَتَرَى الْاَرْضَ بَارِزَةًۙ وَّحَشَرْنٰهُمْ فَلَمْ نُغَادِرْ مِنْهُمْ اَحَدًاۚ ٤٧

wayawma
وَيَوْمَ
And the Day
nusayyiru
نُسَيِّرُ
We will cause (to) move
l-jibāla
ٱلْجِبَالَ
the mountains
watarā
وَتَرَى
and you will see
l-arḍa
ٱلْأَرْضَ
the earth
bārizatan
بَارِزَةً
(as) a leveled plain
waḥasharnāhum
وَحَشَرْنَٰهُمْ
and We will gather them
falam
فَلَمْ
and not
nughādir
نُغَادِرْ
We will leave behind
min'hum
مِنْهُمْ
from them
aḥadan
أَحَدًا
anyone
And [warn of] the Day when We will remove the mountains and you will see the earth exposed, and We will gather them and not leave behind from them anyone. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 47)
Tafsir
48

وَعُرِضُوْا عَلٰى رَبِّكَ صَفًّاۗ لَقَدْ جِئْتُمُوْنَا كَمَا خَلَقْنٰكُمْ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۢ ۖبَلْ زَعَمْتُمْ اَلَّنْ نَّجْعَلَ لَكُمْ مَّوْعِدًا ٤٨

waʿuriḍū
وَعُرِضُوا۟
And they will be presented
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
before
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
your Lord
ṣaffan
صَفًّا
(in) rows
laqad
لَّقَدْ
"Certainly
ji'tumūnā
جِئْتُمُونَا
you have come to Us
kamā
كَمَا
as
khalaqnākum
خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ
We created you
awwala
أَوَّلَ
the first
marratin
مَرَّةٍۭۚ
time
bal
بَلْ
Nay
zaʿamtum
زَعَمْتُمْ
you claimed
allan
أَلَّن
that not
najʿala
نَّجْعَلَ
We made
lakum
لَكُم
for you
mawʿidan
مَّوْعِدًا
an appointment"
And they will be presented before your Lord in rows, [and He will say], "You have certainly come to Us just as We created you the first time. But you claimed that We would never make for you an appointment." (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 48)
Tafsir
49

وَوُضِعَ الْكِتٰبُ فَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِيْنَ مُشْفِقِيْنَ مِمَّا فِيْهِ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ يٰوَيْلَتَنَا مَالِ هٰذَا الْكِتٰبِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيْرَةً وَّلَا كَبِيْرَةً اِلَّآ اَحْصٰىهَاۚ وَوَجَدُوْا مَا عَمِلُوْا حَاضِرًاۗ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ اَحَدًا ࣖ ٤٩

wawuḍiʿa
وَوُضِعَ
And (will) be placed
l-kitābu
ٱلْكِتَٰبُ
the Book
fatarā
فَتَرَى
and you will see
l-muj'rimīna
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
the criminals
mush'fiqīna
مُشْفِقِينَ
fearful
mimmā
مِمَّا
of what
fīhi
فِيهِ
(is) in it
wayaqūlūna
وَيَقُولُونَ
and they will say
yāwaylatanā
يَٰوَيْلَتَنَا
"Oh woe to us!
māli
مَالِ
What (is) for
hādhā
هَٰذَا
this
l-kitābi
ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
[the] Book
لَا
not
yughādiru
يُغَادِرُ
leaves
ṣaghīratan
صَغِيرَةً
a small
walā
وَلَا
and not
kabīratan
كَبِيرَةً
a great
illā
إِلَّآ
except
aḥṣāhā
أَحْصَىٰهَاۚ
has enumerated it?"
wawajadū
وَوَجَدُوا۟
And they will find
مَا
what
ʿamilū
عَمِلُوا۟
they did
ḥāḍiran
حَاضِرًاۗ
presented
walā
وَلَا
And not
yaẓlimu
يَظْلِمُ
deals unjustly
rabbuka
رَبُّكَ
your Lord
aḥadan
أَحَدًا
(with) anyone
And the record [of deeds] will be placed [open], and you will see the criminals fearful of that within it, and they will say, "Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?" And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does injustice to no one. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 49)
Tafsir
50

وَاِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةِ اسْجُدُوْا لِاٰدَمَ فَسَجَدُوْٓا اِلَّآ اِبْلِيْسَۗ كَانَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَفَسَقَ عَنْ اَمْرِ رَبِّهٖۗ اَفَتَتَّخِذُوْنَهٗ وَذُرِّيَّتَهٗٓ اَوْلِيَاۤءَ مِنْ دُوْنِيْ وَهُمْ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۗ بِئْسَ لِلظّٰلِمِيْنَ بَدَلًا ٥٠

wa-idh
وَإِذْ
And when
qul'nā
قُلْنَا
We said
lil'malāikati
لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ
to the Angels
us'judū
ٱسْجُدُوا۟
"Prostrate
liādama
لِءَادَمَ
to Adam"
fasajadū
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟
so they prostrated
illā
إِلَّآ
except
ib'līsa
إِبْلِيسَ
Iblis
kāna
كَانَ
(He) was
mina
مِنَ
of
l-jini
ٱلْجِنِّ
the jinn
fafasaqa
فَفَسَقَ
and he rebelled
ʿan
عَنْ
against
amri
أَمْرِ
the Command
rabbihi
رَبِّهِۦٓۗ
(of) his Lord
afatattakhidhūnahu
أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُۥ
Will you then take him
wadhurriyyatahu
وَذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ
and his offspring
awliyāa
أَوْلِيَآءَ
(as) protectors
min
مِن
other than Me
dūnī
دُونِى
other than Me
wahum
وَهُمْ
while they
lakum
لَكُمْ
(are) to you
ʿaduwwun
عَدُوٌّۢۚ
enemies?
bi'sa
بِئْسَ
Wretched
lilẓẓālimīna
لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ
for the wrongdoers
badalan
بَدَلًا
(is) the exchange
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from [i.e., disobeyed] the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange. (QS. [18] Al-Kahf: 50)
