Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Isra Verse 95

Say, “Had there been angels (living) on the earth, walking about in peace, We would have certainly sent down an angel from the heavens as a messenger.”

Tafsir jalalayn

Say, to them; `Had there been in the earth, instead of humans, angels, walking [and living] secure, We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel as Messenger', for when a messenger is sent to a people he is [always] of their kind, so that they are able to speak to him and understand from him [his message].

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

قُل لَّوْ كَانَ فِي الَارْضِ مَليِكَةٌ يَمْشُونَ مُطْمَيِنِّينَ

Say;"If there were on the earth, angels walking about in peace and security,

meaning, just as you do,

لَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ السَّمَاء مَلَكًا رَّسُولاً



We should certainly have sent down for them from the heaven an angel as a Messenger.

meaning, `one of their own kind. But as you are human, We have sent to you Messengers from yourselves, as a kindness and a mercy.
