Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Isra Verse 93
Al-Isra [17]: 93 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اَوْ يَكُوْنَ لَكَ بَيْتٌ مِّنْ زُخْرُفٍ اَوْ تَرْقٰى فِى السَّمَاۤءِ ۗوَلَنْ نُّؤْمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتّٰى تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا كِتٰبًا نَّقْرَؤُهٗۗ قُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيْ هَلْ كُنْتُ اِلَّا بَشَرًا رَّسُوْلًا ࣖ (الإسراء : ١٧)

Transliteration:
Aw yakoona laka baitum min zukhrufin aw tarqaa fis samaaa'i wa lan nu'mina liruqiyyika hatta tunazzila 'alainaa kitaaban naqra'uh; qul Subhaana Rabbee hal kuntu illaa basharar Rasoolaa(QS. al-ʾIsrāʾ:93)
English / Sahih Translation:
Or you have a house of ornament [i.e., gold] or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?" (QS. Al-Isra, ayah 93)

Or you have a house made of gold. Or you ascend to the sky, and we will not believe in your ascension unless you send down to us a book we may read.” Say, “I proclaim the Purity of my Lord. I am nothing but human, a messenger.”

Or (a) house/home from ornament/gold be for you, or you ascend/climb in the sky , and We will never/not believe to your ascent/climb until you descend on us a book we read it. Say: "My Lord`s praise/glory, have I been except a human, a messenger?"

Tafsir jalalayn
or until you [come to] have a house adorned with gold, or ascend into the heaven, upon a ladder, and [even then] we will not believe your ascension, if you were to ascend into it, until you bring down for us, therefrom, a book, in which is [confirmed] your truthfulness, that we may read'. Say, to them; `Glory be to my Lord -- this is a statement of amazement -- Am I anything but a human, a messenger [from God]?', in other words, [I am] like all [other] messengers, for they never brought [any] signs except by God's leave.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
أَوْ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيْتٌ مِّن زُخْرُفٍ
Or you have a house of Zukhruf.
Ibn Abbas, Mujahid and Qatadah said,
"This is gold."
This was also what was said in the recitation of Ibn Mas`ud,
"Or you have a house of gold."
أَوْ تَرْقَى فِي السَّمَاء
or you ascend up into the sky,
meaning, you climb up on a ladder while we are watching you.
وَلَن نُّوْمِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّى تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا كِتَابًا نَّقْرَوُهُ
and even then we will put no faith in your ascension until you bring down for us a Book that we would read.
Mujahid said,
"This means a book in which there would be one page for each person, on which would be the words;`This is a book from Allah to so-and-so the son of so-and-so, which he would find by his head when he woke up in the morning."
قُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّي هَلْ كُنتُ إَلاَّ بَشَرًا رَّسُولاً
Say;"Glorified be my Lord! Am I anything but a man, sent as a Messenger."
meaning, `Glorified, exalted and sanctified be He above the notion that anyone would come before Him concerning any matter pertaining to His authority and sovereignty. He is the One Who does what He wills. If He willed, he could have given you what you asked for, or if He willed, he could have refrained. I am only a Messenger to you, sent to convey the Messages of my Lord and advise you. I have done that, and the response to what you have asked is to be decided by Allah, may He be glorified.
