And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority." (QS. Al-Isra, ayah 80)
And say, “O my Lord, make me enter a rightful entrance and make me exit a rightful exit, and grant me from Your Own a power, favored (by You).”
And say, “My Lord! Grant me an honourable entrance and an honourable exit[[ This verse was revealed when the Prophet (ﷺ) received the order to emigrate from Mecca to Medina. So here he (ﷺ) is praying to leave Mecca honourably and enter Medina honourably. It can also apply to any worldly activity that a person starts and finishes.]] and give me a supporting authority from Yourself.”
And say, “My Lord, make me enter an honorable entrance and make me exit an honorable exit, and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.”
And say: 'My Lord, lead me in with a just ingoing, and lead me out with a just outgoing; grant me authority from Thee, to help me.'
Say, ‘My Lord, make me go in truthfully, and come out truthfully, and grant me supporting authority from You.’
And say thou: O my Lord! cause me to enter a rightful entrance and cause me to go forth with a rightful outgoing, and appoint for me from before Thee an authority helpful.
Say; "O my Lord! Let my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour, and likewise my exit by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Thy Presence an authority to aid (me)."
And pray: "My Lord! Cause me to enter wherever it be, with Truth, and cause me to exit, wherever it be, with Truth, and support me with authority from Yourself."
And pray: "O my Lord, let my entry be with honour, and let my exit be with honour, and grant me power from You which would help (sustain) me."
And pray, “My Lord! Admit me with the truth and take me out with the truth*, and give me from Yourself a helpful dominance**.” (* Wherever I come or go ** Through spread of Islam.)
And say, ‘My Lord! ‘Admit me with a worthy entrance, and bring me out with a worthy departure, and render me a favourable authority from Yourself.’
And say: "My Lord! Cause me to enter in a manner sincere and faithful to the truth, and cause me to exit in a manner sincere and faithful to the truth, and grant me from Your Presence a sustaining authority!"
And say (in Prayer), `My Lord, grant that when I enter (wherever you take me to while migrating) I enter with truth (in every way) and when I depart, I depart with truth, and grant me by Your grace authoritative help (which should sustain me in my activities).´
And say: "My Lord enter me a truthful entrance, and bring me out (in) a truthful exit, and make/put for me from at you a victorious/supportive proof/power/authority ."
And pray, "My Lord! Admit me with the truth and take me out with the truth *, and give me from Yourself a helpful dominance **." (* Wherever I come or go ** Through spread of Islam.)
And say, "O my Lord! Make my entry be by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and make my exit be likewise by the Gate of Truth and Honour; and grant me from Thee an authority to aid me."
And say (O Muhammad SAW): My Lord! Let my entry (to the city of Al-Madinah) be good, and likewise my exit (from the city of Makkah) be good. And grant me from You an authority to help me (or a firm sign or a proof).
And during a part of the night, keep awake by it, beyond what is incumbent on thee; maybe thy Lord will raise thee to a position of great glory.
And say: My Lord! make me to enter a goodly entering, and cause me to go forth a goodly going forth, and grant me from near Thee power to assist (me).
And say: My Lord! Cause me to come in with a firm incoming and to go out with a firm outgoing. And give me from Thy presence a sustaining Power.
(Muhammad), say, "Lord, make me enter through a path that will lead to the Truth and come out of an exit that will take me to the Truth. Give me helpful authority.
Say: 'Lord, grant me an entrance of sincerity and an exit of sincerity, and give me from Yours a victorious power'
And say: "My Lord! Let my entry be good, and (likewise) my exit be good. And grant me from You a helping authority,"
Say, "Lord, grant me an honourable entrance and an honourable exit, and sustain me with Your power."
And say, “My Lord, lead me in through an entry of truth, and lead me out through an exit of truth, and grant me from You a supporting power.”
And say; `My Lord, make me enter, Medina, with a veritable entrance, an entrance that is satisfying, one in which I do not see what I dislike, and bring me out, of Mecca, with a veritable departure, a departure such that my heart will not [care to] turn back to look at it [yearningly]. And grant me from Yourself a favourable authority', [grant me] strength with which You render me victorious over Your enemies.
The Command to emigrate
Imam Ahmad recorded that Ibn Abbas said;
The Prophet was in Makkah, then he was commanded to emigrate, and Allah revealed the words;
And say;"My Lord! Let my entry be good, and (likewise) my exit be good. And grant me from You a helping authority."
At-Tirmidhi said, "This is Hasan Sahih."
Al-Hasan Al-Basri commented on this Ayah,
"When the disbelievers of Makkah conspired to kill the Messenger of Allah , or expel him or imprison him, Allah wanted him to fight the people of Makkah, and commanded him to go to Al-Madinah. What Allah said was;
And say;"My Lord! Let my entry be good, and (likewise) my exit be good..."
And say;"My Lord! Let my entry be good..."
means, my entry to Al-Madinah.
and (likewise) my exit be good,
means, my exit from Makkah.
This was also the view of Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam.
And grant me from You a helping authority.
Al-Hasan Al-Basri explained this Ayah;
"His Lord promised to take away the kingdom and glory of Persia and give it to him, and the kingdom and glory of Byzantium and give it to him."
"The Prophet of Allah knew that that he could not achieve this without authority or power, so he asked for authority to help him support the Book of Allah, the Laws of Allah, the obligations of Allah and to establish the religion of Allah. Authority is a mercy from Allah which He places among His servants, otherwise some of them would attack others, and the strong would consume the weak."
Alongside the truth, he also needed power and authority in order to suppress those who opposed and resisted him, hence Allah said;
Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Mizan that mankind may keep up justice. And We brought forth iron... (57;25)
