Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Isra Verse 72
Al-Isra [17]: 72 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَمَنْ كَانَ فِيْ هٰذِهٖٓ اَعْمٰى فَهُوَ فِى الْاٰخِرَةِ اَعْمٰى وَاَضَلُّ سَبِيْلًا (الإسراء : ١٧)
- waman
- وَمَن
- And whoever
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- fī
- فِى
- in
- hādhihi
- هَٰذِهِۦٓ
- this (world)
- aʿmā
- أَعْمَىٰ
- blind
- fahuwa
- فَهُوَ
- then he
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the Hereafter
- aʿmā
- أَعْمَىٰ
- (will be) blind
- wa-aḍallu
- وَأَضَلُّ
- and more astray
- sabīlan
- سَبِيلًا
- (from the) path
Transliteration:
Wa man kaana fee haaziheee a'maa fahuwa fil aakhirati a'maa wa adallu sabeelaa(QS. al-ʾIsrāʾ:72)
English / Sahih Translation:
And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way. (QS. Al-Isra, ayah 72)

But whoever is (too) blind in this (world to see the right path) will be (too) blind in the Hereafter (to reach the salvation), and much more astray from the path.

Tafsir jalalayn
And whoever has been in this, that is, [in] this world, blind, to the truth, will be blind in the Hereafter, to the path of salvation and the reciting of the Qur'n, and [even] further astray from the [right] way, more removed from the road [that leads] to it.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَمَن كَانَ فِي هَـذِهِ أَعْمَى
And whoever is blind in this,
Ibn Abbas, Mujahid, Qatadah and Ibn Zayd said;
this means in this worldly life.
أَعْمَى
(blind),
means, blind to the signs and proofs of Allah.
فَهُوَ فِي الاخِرَةِ أَعْمَى
then he will be blind in the Hereafter,
as he was blind in this world.
وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلً
and most astray from the path.
most astray as he was in this world.
