Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Isra Verse 43
Al-Isra [17]: 43 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
سُبْحٰنَهٗ وَتَعٰلٰى عَمَّا يَقُوْلُوْنَ عُلُوًّا كَبِيْرًا (الإسراء : ١٧)
- sub'ḥānahu
- سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ
- Glorified is He
- wataʿālā
- وَتَعَٰلَىٰ
- and Exalted is He
- ʿammā
- عَمَّا
- above what
- yaqūlūna
- يَقُولُونَ
- they say
- ʿuluwwan
- عُلُوًّا
- (by) height
- kabīran
- كَبِيرًا
- great
Transliteration:
Subhaanahoo wa Ta'aalaa 'ammaa yaqooloona 'uluwwan kabeeraa(QS. al-ʾIsrāʾ:43)
English / Sahih Translation:
Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity. (QS. Al-Isra, ayah 43)

Tafseer Ibn Kathir
سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ
Glorified and Exalted is He high above what they say!
meaning these idolators who transgress and do wrong when they claim that there are other gods besides Him.
عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا
high above,
means, far above.
He is Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable or coequal unto Him
