Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Isra Verse 108
Al-Isra [17]: 108 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَّيَقُوْلُوْنَ سُبْحٰنَ رَبِّنَآ اِنْ كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُوْلًا (الإسراء : ١٧)
- wayaqūlūna
- وَيَقُولُونَ
- And they say
- sub'ḥāna
- سُبْحَٰنَ
- "Glory be to
- rabbinā
- رَبِّنَآ
- our Lord!
- in
- إِن
- Indeed
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- waʿdu
- وَعْدُ
- (the) promise
- rabbinā
- رَبِّنَا
- (of) our Lord
- lamafʿūlan
- لَمَفْعُولًا
- surely fulfilled"
Transliteration:
Wa yaqooloona Subhaana Rabbinaaa in kaana wa'du Rabbinaa lamaf'oolaa(QS. al-ʾIsrāʾ:108)
English / Sahih Translation:
And they say, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled." (QS. Al-Isra, ayah 108)

and say, "Glory be to our Lord, exalting Him above [the claim] that [His] promise [of sending a prophet] had not been fulfilled. Indeed (in, softened) Our Lord's promise, of its [the Qur'n's] revelation and the sending of the Prophet (s), is bound to be fulfilled".
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَيَقُولُونَ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا
And they say;Glory be to our Lord!,
meaning, they extol and glorify their Lord for His perfect power and for not delaying the fulfillment of the promise which He made through His earlier Prophets, that He would send Muhammad. Hence they said;
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاً
Glory be to our Lord! Truly, the promise of our Lord must be fulfilled
