اَوْ خَلْقًا مِّمَّا يَكْبُرُ فِيْ صُدُوْرِكُمْ ۚفَسَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَنْ يُّعِيْدُنَاۗ قُلِ الَّذِيْ فَطَرَكُمْ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۗ فَسَيُنْغِضُوْنَ اِلَيْكَ رُءُوْسَهُمْ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَتٰى هُوَۗ قُلْ عَسٰٓى اَنْ يَّكُوْنَ قَرِيْبًا ٥١
- aw
- أَوْ
- Or
- khalqan
- خَلْقًا
- a creation
- mimmā
- مِّمَّا
- of what
- yakburu
- يَكْبُرُ
- (is) great
- fī
- فِى
- in
- ṣudūrikum
- صُدُورِكُمْۚ
- your breasts"
- fasayaqūlūna
- فَسَيَقُولُونَ
- Then they will say
- man
- مَن
- "Who
- yuʿīdunā
- يُعِيدُنَاۖ
- will restore us?"
- quli
- قُلِ
- Say
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- "He Who
- faṭarakum
- فَطَرَكُمْ
- created you
- awwala
- أَوَّلَ
- (the) first
- marratin
- مَرَّةٍۚ
- time"
- fasayun'ghiḍūna
- فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ
- Then they will shake
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- at you
- ruūsahum
- رُءُوسَهُمْ
- their heads
- wayaqūlūna
- وَيَقُولُونَ
- and they say
- matā
- مَتَىٰ
- "When (will)
- huwa
- هُوَۖ
- it (be)?"
- qul
- قُلْ
- Say
- ʿasā
- عَسَىٰٓ
- "Perhaps
- an
- أَن
- that
- yakūna
- يَكُونَ
- (it) will be
- qarīban
- قَرِيبًا
- soon"
Or [any] creation of that which is great within your breasts." And they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He who brought you forth the first time." Then they will nod their heads toward you and say, "When is that?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon – (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 51)Tafsir
يَوْمَ يَدْعُوْكُمْ فَتَسْتَجِيْبُوْنَ بِحَمْدِهٖ وَتَظُنُّوْنَ اِنْ لَّبِثْتُمْ اِلَّا قَلِيْلًا ࣖ ٥٢
- yawma
- يَوْمَ
- (On) the Day
- yadʿūkum
- يَدْعُوكُمْ
- He will call you
- fatastajībūna
- فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ
- and you will respond
- biḥamdihi
- بِحَمْدِهِۦ
- with His Praise
- wataẓunnūna
- وَتَظُنُّونَ
- and you will think
- in
- إِن
- not
- labith'tum
- لَّبِثْتُمْ
- you had remained
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- qalīlan
- قَلِيلًا
- a little (while)
On the Day He will call you and you will respond with praise of Him and think that you had not remained [in the world] except for a little." (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 52)Tafsir
وَقُلْ لِّعِبَادِيْ يَقُوْلُوا الَّتِيْ هِيَ اَحْسَنُۗ اِنَّ الشَّيْطٰنَ يَنْزَغُ بَيْنَهُمْۗ اِنَّ الشَّيْطٰنَ كَانَ لِلْاِنْسَانِ عَدُوًّا مُّبِيْنًا ٥٣
- waqul
- وَقُل
- And say
- liʿibādī
- لِّعِبَادِى
- to My slaves
- yaqūlū
- يَقُولُوا۟
- (to) say
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِى
- that
- hiya
- هِىَ
- which
- aḥsanu
- أَحْسَنُۚ
- (is) best
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-shayṭāna
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ
- the Shaitaan
- yanzaghu
- يَنزَغُ
- sows discord
- baynahum
- بَيْنَهُمْۚ
- between them
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-shayṭāna
- ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ
- the Shaitaan
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- lil'insāni
- لِلْإِنسَٰنِ
- to the man
- ʿaduwwan
- عَدُوًّا
- an enemy
- mubīnan
- مُّبِينًا
- clear
And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 53)Tafsir
رَبُّكُمْ اَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ اِنْ يَّشَأْ يَرْحَمْكُمْ اَوْ اِنْ يَّشَأْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْۗ وَمَآ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيْلًا ٥٤
- rabbukum
- رَّبُّكُمْ
- Your Lord
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- (is) most knowing
- bikum
- بِكُمْۖ
- of you
- in
- إِن
- If
- yasha
- يَشَأْ
- He wills
- yarḥamkum
- يَرْحَمْكُمْ
- He will have mercy on you;
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- in
- إِن
- if
- yasha
- يَشَأْ
- He wills
- yuʿadhib'kum
- يُعَذِّبْكُمْۚ
- He will punish you
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And not
- arsalnāka
- أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ
- We have sent you
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- over them
- wakīlan
- وَكِيلًا
- (as) a guardian
Your Lord is most knowing of you. If He wills, He will have mercy upon you; or if He wills, He will punish you. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a manager. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 54)Tafsir
وَرَبُّكَ اَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ وَلَقَدْ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَ النَّبِيّٖنَ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ وَّاٰتَيْنَا دَاوٗدَ زَبُوْرًا ٥٥
- warabbuka
- وَرَبُّكَ
- And your Lord
- aʿlamu
- أَعْلَمُ
- (is) most knowing
- biman
- بِمَن
- of whoever
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِۗ
- and the earth
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And verily
- faḍḍalnā
- فَضَّلْنَا
- We have preferred
- baʿḍa
- بَعْضَ
- some
- l-nabiyīna
- ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَ
- (of) the Prophets
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- baʿḍin
- بَعْضٍۖ
- others
- waātaynā
- وَءَاتَيْنَا
- And We gave
- dāwūda
- دَاوُۥدَ
- Dawood
- zabūran
- زَبُورًا
- Zaboor
And your Lord is most knowing of whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And We have made some of the prophets exceed others [in various ways], and to David We gave the book [of Psalms]. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 55)Tafsir
قُلِ ادْعُوا الَّذِيْنَ زَعَمْتُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِهٖ فَلَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ كَشْفَ الضُّرِّ عَنْكُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِيْلًا ٥٦
- quli
- قُلِ
- Say
- id'ʿū
- ٱدْعُوا۟
- "Call
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those whom
- zaʿamtum
- زَعَمْتُم
- you claimed
- min
- مِّن
- besides Him
- dūnihi
- دُونِهِۦ
- besides Him
- falā
- فَلَا
- [then] not
- yamlikūna
- يَمْلِكُونَ
- they have power
- kashfa
- كَشْفَ
- (to) remove
- l-ḍuri
- ٱلضُّرِّ
- the misfortunes
- ʿankum
- عَنكُمْ
- from you
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- taḥwīlan
- تَحْوِيلًا
- (to) transfer (it)"
Say, "Invoke those you have claimed [as gods] besides Him, for they do not possess the [ability for] removal of adversity from you or [for its] transfer [to someone else]." (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 56)Tafsir
اُولٰۤىِٕكَ الَّذِيْنَ يَدْعُوْنَ يَبْتَغُوْنَ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمُ الْوَسِيْلَةَ اَيُّهُمْ اَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُوْنَ رَحْمَتَهٗ وَيَخَافُوْنَ عَذَابَهٗۗ اِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُوْرًا ٥٧
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- Those
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- whom
- yadʿūna
- يَدْعُونَ
- they call
- yabtaghūna
- يَبْتَغُونَ
- seek
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- rabbihimu
- رَبِّهِمُ
- their Lord
- l-wasīlata
- ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
- the means of access
- ayyuhum
- أَيُّهُمْ
- which of them
- aqrabu
- أَقْرَبُ
- (is) nearest
- wayarjūna
- وَيَرْجُونَ
- and they hope
- raḥmatahu
- رَحْمَتَهُۥ
- (for) His mercy
- wayakhāfūna
- وَيَخَافُونَ
- and fear
- ʿadhābahu
- عَذَابَهُۥٓۚ
- His punishment
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- ʿadhāba
- عَذَابَ
- (the) punishment
- rabbika
- رَبِّكَ
- (of) your Lord
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- maḥdhūran
- مَحْذُورًا
- (ever) feared
Those whom they invoke seek means of access to their Lord, [striving as to] which of them would be nearest, and they hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is ever feared. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 57)Tafsir
وَاِنْ مِّنْ قَرْيَةٍ اِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوْهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ اَوْ مُعَذِّبُوْهَا عَذَابًا شَدِيْدًاۗ كَانَ ذٰلِكَ فىِ الْكِتٰبِ مَسْطُوْرًا ٥٨
- wa-in
- وَإِن
- And not
- min
- مِّن
- (is) any
- qaryatin
- قَرْيَةٍ
- town
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- naḥnu
- نَحْنُ
- We
- muh'likūhā
- مُهْلِكُوهَا
- (will) destroy it
- qabla
- قَبْلَ
- before
- yawmi
- يَوْمِ
- (the) Day
- l-qiyāmati
- ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
- (of) the Resurrection
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- muʿadhibūhā
- مُعَذِّبُوهَا
- punish it
- ʿadhāban
- عَذَابًا
- with a punishment
- shadīdan
- شَدِيدًاۚ
- severe
- kāna
- كَانَ
- That is
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That is
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-kitābi
- ٱلْكِتَٰبِ
- the Book
- masṭūran
- مَسْطُورًا
- written
And there is no city but that We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection or punish it with a severe punishment. That has ever been in the Register inscribed. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 58)Tafsir
وَمَا مَنَعَنَآ اَنْ نُّرْسِلَ بِالْاٰيٰتِ اِلَّآ اَنْ كَذَّبَ بِهَا الْاَوَّلُوْنَۗ وَاٰتَيْنَا ثَمُوْدَ النَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةً فَظَلَمُوْا بِهَاۗ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِالْاٰيٰتِ اِلَّا تَخْوِيْفًا ٥٩
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- manaʿanā
- مَنَعَنَآ
- stopped Us
- an
- أَن
- that
- nur'sila
- نُّرْسِلَ
- We send
- bil-āyāti
- بِٱلْءَايَٰتِ
- the Signs
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- except
- an
- أَن
- that
- kadhaba
- كَذَّبَ
- denied
- bihā
- بِهَا
- them
- l-awalūna
- ٱلْأَوَّلُونَۚ
- the former (people)
- waātaynā
- وَءَاتَيْنَا
- And We gave
- thamūda
- ثَمُودَ
- Thamud
- l-nāqata
- ٱلنَّاقَةَ
- the she-camel
- mub'ṣiratan
- مُبْصِرَةً
- (as) a visible sign
- faẓalamū
- فَظَلَمُوا۟
- but they wronged
- bihā
- بِهَاۚ
- her
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- nur'silu
- نُرْسِلُ
- We send
- bil-āyāti
- بِٱلْءَايَٰتِ
- the Signs
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- takhwīfan
- تَخْوِيفًا
- (as) a warning
And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs [i.e., miracles] except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 59)Tafsir
وَاِذْ قُلْنَا لَكَ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ اَحَاطَ بِالنَّاسِۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الرُّءْيَا الَّتِيْٓ اَرَيْنٰكَ اِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَالشَّجَرَةَ الْمَلْعُوْنَةَ فِى الْقُرْاٰنِ ۗ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْۙ فَمَا يَزِيْدُهُمْ اِلَّا طُغْيَانًا كَبِيْرًا ࣖ ٦٠
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- qul'nā
- قُلْنَا
- We said
- laka
- لَكَ
- to you
- inna
- إِنَّ
- "Indeed
- rabbaka
- رَبَّكَ
- your Lord
- aḥāṭa
- أَحَاطَ
- has encompassed
- bil-nāsi
- بِٱلنَّاسِۚ
- the mankind"
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- jaʿalnā
- جَعَلْنَا
- We made
- l-ru'yā
- ٱلرُّءْيَا
- the vision
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِىٓ
- which
- araynāka
- أَرَيْنَٰكَ
- We showed you
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- fit'natan
- فِتْنَةً
- (as) a trial
- lilnnāsi
- لِّلنَّاسِ
- for mankind
- wal-shajarata
- وَٱلشَّجَرَةَ
- and the tree
- l-malʿūnata
- ٱلْمَلْعُونَةَ
- the accursed
- fī
- فِى
- in
- l-qur'āni
- ٱلْقُرْءَانِۚ
- the Quran
- wanukhawwifuhum
- وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ
- And We threaten them
- famā
- فَمَا
- but not
- yazīduhum
- يَزِيدُهُمْ
- it increases them
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- ṭugh'yānan
- طُغْيَٰنًا
- (in) transgression
- kabīran
- كَبِيرًا
- great
And [remember, O Muhammad], when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people." And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Quran. And We threaten [i.e., warn] them, but it increases them not except in great transgression. (QS. [17] Al-Isra: 60)Tafsir
