Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nahl Verse 83

An-Nahl [16]: 83 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

يَعْرِفُوْنَ نِعْمَتَ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ يُنْكِرُوْنَهَا وَاَكْثَرُهُمُ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ ࣖ (النحل : ١٦)

yaʿrifūna
يَعْرِفُونَ
They recognize
niʿ'mata
نِعْمَتَ
(the) Favor
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah;
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
yunkirūnahā
يُنكِرُونَهَا
they deny it
wa-aktharuhumu
وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ
And most of them
l-kāfirūna
ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
(are) the disbelievers

Transliteration:

Ya'rifoona ni'matal laahi summa yunkiroonahaa wa aksaruhumul kaafiroon (QS. an-Naḥl:83)

English / Sahih Translation:

They recognize the favor of Allah; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers. (QS. An-Nahl, ayah 83)

They are aware of Allah’s favor, yet they deny it, and most of them are ungrateful.

They are aware of Allah’s favours, but still deny them. And most of them are ˹truly˺ ungrateful.

They are aware of the favours of Allah, and yet refuse to acknowledge them. Most of them are determined not to accept the Truth.

They do know the favours of God, and yet they deny them, for most of them are not grateful.

Ahmed Raza Khan

They recognise the favour* of Allah and then deny it, and most of them are disbelievers. (* Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him) and / or all the favours of Allah.)

They recognize the blessing of Allah and then deny it, and most of them are faithless.

They are fully aware of God’s favors, but they refuse to acknowledge them (as such), and most of them are obstinate unbelievers (willfully and stubbornly associating partners with Him in belief and worship).

They recognize the bounty of Allâh, yet they deny it. Most of them have no sense of gratitude (for His favours).

English Literal

They know God`s blessing , then they deny it, and most of them (are) the disbelievers.

They recognise the favour * of Allah and then deny it, and most of them are disbelievers. (* Prophet Mohammed - peace and blessings be upon him - and / or all the favours of Allah.)

They recognize the favours of Allah, and then they deny them, for most men are ungrateful.

They recognise the Grace of Allah, yet they deny it (by worshipping others besides Allah) and most of them are disbelievers (deny the Prophethood of Muhammad SAW).

Tafsir jalalayn

They recognise God's grace, that is, they affirm that it comes from Him, and then deny it, by associating others [with Him], and most of them are ungrateful.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

يَعْرِفُونَ نِعْمَتَ اللّهِ ثُمَّ يُنكِرُونَهَا



They recognize the grace of Allah, yet they deny it,

meaning they know that Allah is the One Who grants these blessings to them, and that He is Bountiful towards them, but they still deny this by worshipping others besides Him and thinking that their help and provisions come from others besides Him.

وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ الْكَافِرُونَ



and most of them are disbelievers
