Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nahl Verse 113

An-Nahl [16]: 113 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَقَدْ جَاۤءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مِّنْهُمْ فَكَذَّبُوْهُ فَاَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَهُمْ ظٰلِمُوْنَ (النحل : ١٦)

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
jāahum
جَآءَهُمْ
came to them
rasūlun
رَسُولٌ
a Messenger
min'hum
مِّنْهُمْ
from among them
fakadhabūhu
فَكَذَّبُوهُ
but they denied him;
fa-akhadhahumu
فَأَخَذَهُمُ
so seized them
l-ʿadhābu
ٱلْعَذَابُ
the punishment
wahum
وَهُمْ
while they
ẓālimūna
ظَٰلِمُونَ
(were) wrongdoers

Transliteration:

Wa laqad jaaa'ahum Rasoolum minhum fakazzaboohu fa akhazahumul 'azaabu wa hum zaalimoon (QS. an-Naḥl:113)

English / Sahih Translation:

And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers. (QS. An-Nahl, ayah 113)

And, of course, a messenger from among themselves had come to them, but they rejected him; so the punishment seized them when they were wrongdoers.

And verily there came to them a messenger from among them, Muhammad (s), but they denied him, and so the chastisement, of hunger and fear, seized them while they were evildoers.
