Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nahl Verse 111

An-Nahl [16]: 111 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

۞ يَوْمَ تَأْتِيْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ تُجَادِلُ عَنْ نَّفْسِهَا وَتُوَفّٰى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُوْنَ (النحل : ١٦)

Transliteration:

Yawma taatee kullu nafsin tujaadilu 'an nafsihaa wa tuwaffaa kullu nafsim maa 'amilat wa hum laa yuzlamoon (QS. an-Naḥl:111)

English / Sahih Translation:

On the Day when every soul will come disputing [i.e., pleading] for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly]. (QS. An-Nahl, ayah 111)

English Literal

A day every self comes to argue/dispute about (for) her/its self, and every self be fulfilled/completed what it made/did/worked, and they are not being caused injustice to/oppressed.187

Tafsir jalalayn

Mention, the day when every soul will come pleading, arguing, for itself, not concerned for any other [soul] -- this is the Day of Resurrection -- and every soul will be repaid, the requital [of], what it has done and they will not be wronged, at all.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

يَوْمَ تَأْتِي كُلُّ نَفْسٍ تُجَادِلُ

(Remember) the Day when every person will come pleading,

meaning making a case in his own defence.

عَن نَّفْسِهَا

for himself,

means, no one else will plead on his behalf; not his father, not his son, nor his brother, nor his wife.

وَتُوَفَّى كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ

and every one will be paid in full for what he did,

meaning whatever he did, good or evil.

وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ



and they will not be dealt with unjustly.

meaning there will be no decrease in the reward for good, and no increase in the punishment for evil. They will not be dealt with unjustly in the slightest way
