Al-Qur'an Surah An-Nahl Verse 107
An-Nahl [16]: 107 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمُ اسْتَحَبُّوا الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا عَلَى الْاٰخِرَةِۙ وَاَنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهْدِى الْقَوْمَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ (النحل : ١٦)
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That (is)
- bi-annahumu
- بِأَنَّهُمُ
- because
- is'taḥabbū
- ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟
- they preferred
- l-ḥayata
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
- the life
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- (of) the world
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- over
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the Hereafter
- wa-anna
- وَأَنَّ
- and that
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- lā
- لَا
- (does) not
- yahdī
- يَهْدِى
- guide
- l-qawma
- ٱلْقَوْمَ
- the people
- l-kāfirīna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- the disbelievers
Transliteration:
Zaalika bi annahumus tahabbul hayaatad dunyaa 'alal Aakhirati wa annal laaha laa yahdil qawmal kaafireen(QS. an-Naḥl:107)
English / Sahih Translation:
That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. (QS. An-Nahl, ayah 107)

That is because they have preferred the worldly life to the Hereafter, and that Allah does not lead the disbelieving people to the right path.

Tafsir jalalayn
That, threat [of chastisement] for them, is because they have preferred the life of this world, they have chosen it [in preference], to the Hereafter, and because God does not guide the disbelieving folk.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
That is because they preferred the life of this world over that of the Hereafter. And Allah does not guide the people who disbelieve.
They will suffer severe punishment in the Hereafter, because they preferred this life to the Hereafter, and they left the faith for the sake of this world and Allah did not guide their hearts and help them to stand firm in the true religion.
أُولَـيِكَ الَّذِينَ طَبَعَ اللّهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ وَأُولَـيِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ
