Surah An-Nahl - Page: 4

(The Bee)

31

جَنّٰتُ عَدْنٍ يَّدْخُلُوْنَهَا تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ لَهُمْ فِيْهَا مَا يَشَاۤءُوْنَ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ يَجْزِى اللّٰهُ الْمُتَّقِيْنَۙ ٣١

jannātu
جَنَّٰتُ
Gardens
ʿadnin
عَدْنٍ
(of) Eden
yadkhulūnahā
يَدْخُلُونَهَا
which they will enter
tajrī
تَجْرِى
flows
min
مِن
from
taḥtihā
تَحْتِهَا
underneath them
l-anhāru
ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُۖ
the rivers
lahum
لَهُمْ
For them
fīhā
فِيهَا
therein
مَا
(will be) whatever
yashāūna
يَشَآءُونَۚ
they wish
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
yajzī
يَجْزِى
Allah rewards
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah rewards
l-mutaqīna
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ
the righteous
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allah reward the righteous – (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 31)
Tafsir
32

الَّذِيْنَ تَتَوَفّٰىهُمُ الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُ طَيِّبِيْنَ ۙيَقُوْلُوْنَ سَلٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ ٣٢

alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
Those whom
tatawaffāhumu
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ
take them in death
l-malāikatu
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
ṭayyibīna
طَيِّبِينَۙ
(when they are) pure
yaqūlūna
يَقُولُونَ
saying
salāmun
سَلَٰمٌ
"Peace
ʿalaykumu
عَلَيْكُمُ
(be) upon you
ud'khulū
ٱدْخُلُوا۟
Enter
l-janata
ٱلْجَنَّةَ
Paradise
bimā
بِمَا
for what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
do"
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do." (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 32)
Tafsir
33

هَلْ يَنْظُرُوْنَ اِلَّآ اَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْمَلٰۤىِٕكَةُ اَوْ يَأْتِيَ اَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ فَعَلَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۗوَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَلٰكِنْ كَانُوْٓا اَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُوْنَ ٣٣

hal
هَلْ
Do
yanẓurūna
يَنظُرُونَ
they wait
illā
إِلَّآ
except
an
أَن
that
tatiyahumu
تَأْتِيَهُمُ
(should) come to them
l-malāikatu
ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ
the Angels
aw
أَوْ
or
yatiya
يَأْتِىَ
(should) come
amru
أَمْرُ
(the) Command
rabbika
رَبِّكَۚ
(of) your Lord?
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
faʿala
فَعَلَ
did
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
min
مِن
(were) before them
qablihim
قَبْلِهِمْۚ
(were) before them
wamā
وَمَا
And not
ẓalamahumu
ظَلَمَهُمُ
wronged them
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah
walākin
وَلَٰكِن
but
kānū
كَانُوٓا۟
they were
anfusahum
أَنفُسَهُمْ
themselves
yaẓlimūna
يَظْلِمُونَ
wronging
Do they [i.e., the disbelievers] await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allah wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 33)
Tafsir
34

فَاَصَابَهُمْ سَيِّاٰتُ مَا عَمِلُوْا وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوْا بِهٖ يَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ ࣖ ٣٤

fa-aṣābahum
فَأَصَابَهُمْ
Then struck them
sayyiātu
سَيِّـَٔاتُ
(the) evil (results)
مَا
(of) what
ʿamilū
عَمِلُوا۟
they did
waḥāqa
وَحَاقَ
and surrounded
bihim
بِهِم
them
مَّا
what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used (to)
bihi
بِهِۦ
[of it]
yastahziūna
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ
mock
So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 34)
Tafsir
35

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ اَشْرَكُوْا لَوْ شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ مَا عَبَدْنَا مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ مِنْ شَيْءٍ نَّحْنُ وَلَآ اٰبَاۤؤُنَا وَلَا حَرَّمْنَا مِنْ دُوْنِهٖ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۗ كَذٰلِكَ فَعَلَ الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚفَهَلْ عَلَى الرُّسُلِ اِلَّا الْبَلٰغُ الْمُبِيْنُ ٣٥

وَقَالَ
And said
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ashrakū
أَشْرَكُوا۟
associate partners (with Allah)
law
لَوْ
"If
shāa
شَآءَ
Allah (had) willed
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (had) willed
مَا
not
ʿabadnā
عَبَدْنَا
we (would) have worshipped
min
مِن
other than Him
dūnihi
دُونِهِۦ
other than Him
min
مِن
any
shayin
شَىْءٍ
thing
naḥnu
نَّحْنُ
we
walā
وَلَآ
and not
ābāunā
ءَابَآؤُنَا
our forefathers
walā
وَلَا
and not
ḥarramnā
حَرَّمْنَا
we (would) have forbidden
min
مِن
other than Him
dūnihi
دُونِهِۦ
other than Him
min
مِن
anything"
shayin
شَىْءٍۚ
anything"
kadhālika
كَذَٰلِكَ
Thus
faʿala
فَعَلَ
did
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
min
مِن
(were) before them
qablihim
قَبْلِهِمْۚ
(were) before them
fahal
فَهَلْ
Then is (there)
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
l-rusuli
ٱلرُّسُلِ
the messengers
illā
إِلَّا
except
l-balāghu
ٱلْبَلَٰغُ
the conveyance
l-mubīnu
ٱلْمُبِينُ
clear?
And those who associate others with Allah say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification? (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 35)
Tafsir
36

وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِيْ كُلِّ اُمَّةٍ رَّسُوْلًا اَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَاجْتَنِبُوا الطَّاغُوْتَۚ فَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ هَدَى اللّٰهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ حَقَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الضَّلٰلَةُ ۗ فَسِيْرُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ فَانْظُرُوْا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ ٣٦

walaqad
وَلَقَدْ
And certainly
baʿathnā
بَعَثْنَا
We sent
فِى
into
kulli
كُلِّ
every
ummatin
أُمَّةٍ
nation
rasūlan
رَّسُولًا
a Messenger
ani
أَنِ
that
uʿ'budū
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
"Worship
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
wa-ij'tanibū
وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟
and avoid
l-ṭāghūta
ٱلطَّٰغُوتَۖ
the false deities"
famin'hum
فَمِنْهُم
Then among them
man
مَّنْ
(were some) whom
hadā
هَدَى
Allah guided
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah guided
wamin'hum
وَمِنْهُم
and among them
man
مَّنْ
(were) some
ḥaqqat
حَقَّتْ
was justified
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
on them
l-ḍalālatu
ٱلضَّلَٰلَةُۚ
the straying
fasīrū
فَسِيرُوا۟
So travel
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
fa-unẓurū
فَٱنظُرُوا۟
and see
kayfa
كَيْفَ
how
kāna
كَانَ
was
ʿāqibatu
عَٰقِبَةُ
the end
l-mukadhibīna
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
(of) the deniers
And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid Taghut." And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 36)
Tafsir
37

اِنْ تَحْرِصْ عَلٰى هُدٰىهُمْ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهْدِيْ مَنْ يُّضِلُّ وَمَا لَهُمْ مِّنْ نّٰصِرِيْنَ ٣٧

in
إِن
If
taḥriṣ
تَحْرِصْ
you desire
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
[for]
hudāhum
هُدَىٰهُمْ
their guidance
fa-inna
فَإِنَّ
then indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
لَا
(will) not
yahdī
يَهْدِى
guide
man
مَن
whom
yuḍillu
يُضِلُّۖ
He lets go astray
wamā
وَمَا
and not (are)
lahum
لَهُم
for them
min
مِّن
any
nāṣirīna
نَّٰصِرِينَ
helpers
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muhammad], indeed, Allah does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 37)
Tafsir
38

وَاَقْسَمُوْا بِاللّٰهِ جَهْدَ اَيْمَانِهِمْۙ لَا يَبْعَثُ اللّٰهُ مَنْ يَّمُوْتُۗ بَلٰى وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا وَّلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَۙ ٣٨

wa-aqsamū
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟
And they swear
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
by Allah
jahda
جَهْدَ
strongest
aymānihim
أَيْمَٰنِهِمْۙ
(of) their oaths
لَا
Allah will not resurrect
yabʿathu
يَبْعَثُ
Allah will not resurrect
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah will not resurrect
man
مَن
(one) who
yamūtu
يَمُوتُۚ
dies
balā
بَلَىٰ
Nay
waʿdan
وَعْدًا
(it is) a promise
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
upon Him
ḥaqqan
حَقًّا
(in) truth
walākinna
وَلَٰكِنَّ
but
akthara
أَكْثَرَ
most
l-nāsi
ٱلنَّاسِ
(of) the mankind
لَا
(do) not
yaʿlamūna
يَعْلَمُونَ
know
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths [that] Allah will not resurrect one who dies. But yes – [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 38)
Tafsir
39

لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمُ الَّذِيْ يَخْتَلِفُوْنَ فِيْهِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْٓا اَنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا كٰذِبِيْنَ ٣٩

liyubayyina
لِيُبَيِّنَ
That He will make clear
lahumu
لَهُمُ
to them
alladhī
ٱلَّذِى
that
yakhtalifūna
يَخْتَلِفُونَ
they differ
fīhi
فِيهِ
wherein
waliyaʿlama
وَلِيَعْلَمَ
and that may know
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
kafarū
كَفَرُوٓا۟
disbelieved
annahum
أَنَّهُمْ
that they
kānū
كَانُوا۟
were
kādhibīna
كَٰذِبِينَ
liars
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 39)
Tafsir
40

اِنَّمَا قَوْلُنَا لِشَيْءٍ اِذَآ اَرَدْنٰهُ اَنْ نَّقُوْلَ لَهٗ كُنْ فَيَكُوْنُ ࣖ ٤٠

innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
qawlunā
قَوْلُنَا
Our Word
lishayin
لِشَىْءٍ
to a thing
idhā
إِذَآ
when
aradnāhu
أَرَدْنَٰهُ
We intend it
an
أَن
(is) that
naqūla
نَّقُولَ
We say
lahu
لَهُۥ
to it
kun
كُن
"Be"
fayakūnu
فَيَكُونُ
and it is
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 40)
