(The Bee)

91

وَاَوْفُوْا بِعَهْدِ اللّٰهِ اِذَا عَاهَدْتُّمْ وَلَا تَنْقُضُوا الْاَيْمَانَ بَعْدَ تَوْكِيْدِهَا وَقَدْ جَعَلْتُمُ اللّٰهَ عَلَيْكُمْ كَفِيْلًا ۗاِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُوْنَ ٩١

wa-awfū
وَأَوْفُوا۟
And fulfil
biʿahdi
بِعَهْدِ
the covenant
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
idhā
إِذَا
when
ʿāhadttum
عَٰهَدتُّمْ
you have taken a covenant
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
tanquḍū
تَنقُضُوا۟
break
l-aymāna
ٱلْأَيْمَٰنَ
oaths
baʿda
بَعْدَ
after
tawkīdihā
تَوْكِيدِهَا
their confirmation
waqad
وَقَدْ
while verily
jaʿaltumu
جَعَلْتُمُ
you have made
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
over you
kafīlan
كَفِيلًاۚ
a surety
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
yaʿlamu
يَعْلَمُ
knows
مَا
what
tafʿalūna
تَفْعَلُونَ
you do
And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allah, over you, a security [i.e., witness]. Indeed, Allah knows what you do. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 91)
Tafsir
92

وَلَا تَكُوْنُوْا كَالَّتِيْ نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنْۢ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ اَنْكَاثًاۗ تَتَّخِذُوْنَ اَيْمَانَكُمْ دَخَلًا ۢ بَيْنَكُمْ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ اُمَّةٌ هِيَ اَرْبٰى مِنْ اُمَّةٍ ۗاِنَّمَا يَبْلُوْكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِهٖۗ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ مَا كُنْتُمْ فِيْهِ تَخْتَلِفُوْنَ ٩٢

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
takūnū
تَكُونُوا۟
be
ka-allatī
كَٱلَّتِى
like her who
naqaḍat
نَقَضَتْ
untwists
ghazlahā
غَزْلَهَا
her spun yarn
min
مِنۢ
after
baʿdi
بَعْدِ
after
quwwatin
قُوَّةٍ
strength
ankāthan
أَنكَٰثًا
(into) untwisted strands
tattakhidhūna
تَتَّخِذُونَ
you take
aymānakum
أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ
your oaths
dakhalan
دَخَلًۢا
(as) a deception
baynakum
بَيْنَكُمْ
between you
an
أَن
because
takūna
تَكُونَ
is
ummatun
أُمَّةٌ
a community
hiya
هِىَ
[it]
arbā
أَرْبَىٰ
more numerous
min
مِنْ
than
ummatin
أُمَّةٍۚ
(another) community
innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
yablūkumu
يَبْلُوكُمُ
Allah tests you
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah tests you
bihi
بِهِۦۚ
by it
walayubayyinanna
وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ
And He will make clear
lakum
لَكُمْ
to you
yawma
يَوْمَ
(on) the Day
l-qiyāmati
ٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ
(of) the Resurrection
مَا
what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
fīhi
فِيهِ
in it
takhtalifūna
تَخْتَلِفُونَ
differ
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allah only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 92)
Tafsir
93

وَلَوْ شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ اُمَّةً وَّاحِدَةً وَّلٰكِنْ يُّضِلُّ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَهْدِيْ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُۗ وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ ٩٣

وَلَوْ
And if
shāa
شَآءَ
Allah (had) willed
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
Allah (had) willed
lajaʿalakum
لَجَعَلَكُمْ
surely He (could) have made you
ummatan
أُمَّةً
a nation
wāḥidatan
وَٰحِدَةً
one
walākin
وَلَٰكِن
but
yuḍillu
يُضِلُّ
He lets go astray
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُ
He wills
wayahdī
وَيَهْدِى
and guides
man
مَن
whom
yashāu
يَشَآءُۚ
He wills
walatus'alunna
وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ
And surely you will be questioned
ʿammā
عَمَّا
about what
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you used (to)
taʿmalūna
تَعْمَلُونَ
do
And if Allah had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 93)
Tafsir
94

وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوْٓا اَيْمَانَكُمْ دَخَلًا ۢ بَيْنَكُمْ فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌۢ بَعْدَ ثُبُوْتِهَا وَتَذُوْقُوا السُّوْۤءَ بِمَا صَدَدْتُّمْ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ ۚوَلَكُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ ٩٤

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
tattakhidhū
تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟
take
aymānakum
أَيْمَٰنَكُمْ
your oaths
dakhalan
دَخَلًۢا
(as) a deception
baynakum
بَيْنَكُمْ
between you
fatazilla
فَتَزِلَّ
lest should slip
qadamun
قَدَمٌۢ
a foot
baʿda
بَعْدَ
after
thubūtihā
ثُبُوتِهَا
it is firmly planted
watadhūqū
وَتَذُوقُوا۟
and you would taste
l-sūa
ٱلسُّوٓءَ
the evil
bimā
بِمَا
for what
ṣadadttum
صَدَدتُّمْ
you hindered
ʿan
عَن
from
sabīli
سَبِيلِ
(the) way
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِۖ
(of) Allah
walakum
وَلَكُمْ
and for you
ʿadhābun
عَذَابٌ
(is) a punishment
ʿaẓīmun
عَظِيمٌ
great
And do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allah, and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 94)
Tafsir
95

وَلَا تَشْتَرُوْا بِعَهْدِ اللّٰهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيْلًاۗ اِنَّمَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٩٥

walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
tashtarū
تَشْتَرُوا۟
exchange
biʿahdi
بِعَهْدِ
the covenant
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(of) Allah
thamanan
ثَمَنًا
(for) a price
qalīlan
قَلِيلًاۚ
little
innamā
إِنَّمَا
Indeed what
ʿinda
عِندَ
(is) with
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
huwa
هُوَ
it
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(is) better
lakum
لَّكُمْ
for you
in
إِن
if
kuntum
كُنتُمْ
you were (to)
taʿlamūna
تَعْلَمُونَ
know
And do not exchange the covenant of Allah for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allah is best for you, if only you could know. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 95)
Tafsir
96

مَا عِنْدَكُمْ يَنْفَدُ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ بَاقٍۗ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ الَّذِيْنَ صَبَرُوْٓا اَجْرَهُمْ بِاَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ٩٦

مَا
Whatever
ʿindakum
عِندَكُمْ
(is) with you
yanfadu
يَنفَدُۖ
will be exhausted
wamā
وَمَا
and whatever
ʿinda
عِندَ
(is) with
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
Allah
bāqin
بَاقٍۗ
(will) be remaining
walanajziyanna
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ
And surely We will pay
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
ṣabarū
صَبَرُوٓا۟
(are) patient
ajrahum
أَجْرَهُم
their reward
bi-aḥsani
بِأَحْسَنِ
to (the) best
مَا
(of) what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used (to)
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
do
Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 96)
Tafsir
97

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا مِّنْ ذَكَرٍ اَوْ اُنْثٰى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهٗ حَيٰوةً طَيِّبَةًۚ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ اَجْرَهُمْ بِاَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ٩٧

man
مَنْ
Whoever
ʿamila
عَمِلَ
does
ṣāliḥan
صَٰلِحًا
righteous deeds
min
مِّن
whether
dhakarin
ذَكَرٍ
male
aw
أَوْ
or
unthā
أُنثَىٰ
female
wahuwa
وَهُوَ
while he
mu'minun
مُؤْمِنٌ
(is) a believer
falanuḥ'yiyannahu
فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ
then surely We will give him life
ḥayatan
حَيَوٰةً
a life
ṭayyibatan
طَيِّبَةًۖ
good
walanajziyannahum
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ
and We will pay them
ajrahum
أَجْرَهُم
their reward
bi-aḥsani
بِأَحْسَنِ
to (the) best
مَا
of what
kānū
كَانُوا۟
they used (to)
yaʿmalūna
يَعْمَلُونَ
do
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 97)
Tafsir
98

فَاِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْاٰنَ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطٰنِ الرَّجِيْمِ ٩٨

fa-idhā
فَإِذَا
So when
qarata
قَرَأْتَ
you recite
l-qur'āna
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ
the Quran
fa-is'taʿidh
فَٱسْتَعِذْ
seek refuge
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِ
in Allah
mina
مِنَ
from
l-shayṭāni
ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ
the Shaitaan
l-rajīmi
ٱلرَّجِيمِ
the accursed
So when you recite the Quran, [first] seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy]. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 98)
Tafsir
99

اِنَّهٗ لَيْسَ لَهٗ سُلْطٰنٌ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَلٰى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُوْنَ ٩٩

innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
laysa
لَيْسَ
not
lahu
لَهُۥ
for him
sul'ṭānun
سُلْطَٰنٌ
(is) any authority
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
āmanū
ءَامَنُوا۟
believe
waʿalā
وَعَلَىٰ
and upon
rabbihim
رَبِّهِمْ
their Lord
yatawakkalūna
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
they put their trust
Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 99)
Tafsir
100

اِنَّمَا سُلْطٰنُهٗ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ يَتَوَلَّوْنَهٗ وَالَّذِيْنَ هُمْ بِهٖ مُشْرِكُوْنَ ࣖ ١٠٠

innamā
إِنَّمَا
Only
sul'ṭānuhu
سُلْطَٰنُهُۥ
his authority
ʿalā
عَلَى
(is) over
alladhīna
ٱلَّذِينَ
those who
yatawallawnahu
يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ
take him as an ally
wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
and those who
hum
هُم
[they]
bihi
بِهِۦ
with Him
mush'rikūna
مُشْرِكُونَ
associate partners
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allah. (QS. [16] An-Nahl: 100)
