Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hijr Verse 78

Al-Hijr [15]: 78 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَاِنْ كَانَ اَصْحٰبُ الْاَيْكَةِ لَظٰلِمِيْنَۙ (الحجر : ١٥)

wa-in
وَإِن
And were
kāna
كَانَ
And were
aṣḥābu
أَصْحَٰبُ
(the) companions
l-aykati
ٱلْأَيْكَةِ
(of) the wood
laẓālimīna
لَظَٰلِمِينَ
surely wrongdoers

Transliteration:

Wa in kaana Ashaabul Aikati lazaalimeen (QS. al-Ḥijr:78)

English / Sahih Translation:

And the companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] were [also] wrongdoers, (QS. Al-Hijr, ayah 78)

And certainly (in has been softened, in other words [understand it as being] innahu) the dwellers in the wood, a huddle of trees near Midian -- these were the people of [the prophet] Shu`ayb -- were evildoers, for denying Shu`ayb.

The Destruction of the Dwellers of Al-Aykah, the People of Shu`ayb

Allah tells;

وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الَايْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ




فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ
