Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hijr Verse 74
Al-Hijr [15]: 74 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَاَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّنْ سِجِّيْلٍ (الحجر : ١٥)

- And We made
- ʿāliyahā
- عَٰلِيَهَا
- its highest (part)
- sāfilahā
- سَافِلَهَا
- its lowest
- wa-amṭarnā
- وَأَمْطَرْنَا
- and We rained

- عَلَيْهِمْ

- حِجَارَةً

- سِجِّيلٍ
- baked clay
Transliteration:
Faja'alnaa 'aaliyahaa saafilahaa wa amtamaa 'alaihim hijaaratam min sjijjeel(QS. al-Ḥijr:74)
English / Sahih Translation:
And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. (QS. Al-Hijr, ayah 74)

And We made their, that is, their cities', topmost part their nethermost, by Gabriel's raising them [the cities] to the heaven and dropping them face down onto the earth, and We rained on them stones of baked clay, clay baked in fire.

And We turned them upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them.
