Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hijr Verse 73
Al-Hijr [15]: 73 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِيْنَۙ (الحجر : ١٥)
- fa-akhadhathumu
- فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ
- So seized them
- l-ṣayḥatu
- ٱلصَّيْحَةُ
- the awful cry
- mush'riqīna
- مُشْرِقِينَ
- at sunrise
Transliteration:
Fa akhazat humus saihatu mushriqeen(QS. al-Ḥijr:73)
English / Sahih Translation:
So the shriek seized them at sunrise. (QS. Al-Hijr, ayah 73)

Tafseer Ibn Kathir
The Destruction of the People of Lut
Allah said;
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
So the Sayhah overtook them at the time of sunrise.
This is the piercing sound that came to them when the sun rose, which was accompanied by the city being flipped upside down, and stones of baked clay (As-Sijjil) raining down upon them.
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ
