الۤرٰ ۗ كِتٰبٌ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ اِلَيْكَ لِتُخْرِجَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ ەۙ بِاِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطِ الْعَزِيْزِ الْحَمِيْدِۙ ١
- alif-lam-ra
- الٓرۚ
- Alif Laam Ra
- kitābun
- كِتَٰبٌ
- A Book
- anzalnāhu
- أَنزَلْنَٰهُ
- which We have revealed
- ilayka
- إِلَيْكَ
- to you
- litukh'rija
- لِتُخْرِجَ
- so that you may bring out
- l-nāsa
- ٱلنَّاسَ
- the mankind
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-ẓulumāti
- ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ
- the darkness[es]
- ilā
- إِلَى
- to
- l-nūri
- ٱلنُّورِ
- the light
- bi-idh'ni
- بِإِذْنِ
- by the permission
- rabbihim
- رَبِّهِمْ
- (of) their Lord
- ilā
- إِلَىٰ
- to
- ṣirāṭi
- صِرَٰطِ
- the Path
- l-ʿazīzi
- ٱلْعَزِيزِ
- (of) the All-Mighty
- l-ḥamīdi
- ٱلْحَمِيدِ
- the Praiseworthy
Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord – to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy – (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 1)Tafsir
اللّٰهِ الَّذِيْ لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْكٰفِرِيْنَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيْدٍۙ ٢
- al-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- (is) the One
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- to Him (belongs)
- mā
- مَا
- whatever
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- the heavens
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and whatever
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِۗ
- the earth
- wawaylun
- وَوَيْلٌ
- And woe
- lil'kāfirīna
- لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ
- to the disbelievers
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- ʿadhābin
- عَذَابٍ
- the punishment
- shadīdin
- شَدِيدٍ
- severe
Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And woe [i.e., destruction] to the disbelievers from a severe punishment – (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 2)Tafsir
ۨالَّذِيْنَ يَسْتَحِبُّوْنَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَا عَلَى الْاٰخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللّٰهِ وَيَبْغُوْنَهَا عِوَجًا ۗ اُولٰۤىِٕكَ فِيْ ضَلٰلٍۢ بَعِيْدٍ ٣
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- Those who
- yastaḥibbūna
- يَسْتَحِبُّونَ
- love more
- l-ḥayata
- ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ
- the life
- l-dun'yā
- ٱلدُّنْيَا
- (of) the world
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- than
- l-ākhirati
- ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ
- the Hereafter
- wayaṣuddūna
- وَيَصُدُّونَ
- and hinder
- ʿan
- عَن
- from
- sabīli
- سَبِيلِ
- (the) Path
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- wayabghūnahā
- وَيَبْغُونَهَا
- and seek in it
- ʿiwajan
- عِوَجًاۚ
- crookedness
- ulāika
- أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ
- those
- fī
- فِى
- [in]
- ḍalālin
- ضَلَٰلٍۭ
- (are) far astray
- baʿīdin
- بَعِيدٍ
- (are) far astray
The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah, seeking to make it [seem] deviant. Those are in extreme error. (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 3)Tafsir
وَمَآ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهٖ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْ ۗفَيُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ وَيَهْدِيْ مَنْ يَّشَاۤءُ ۗوَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ ٤
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And not
- arsalnā
- أَرْسَلْنَا
- We sent
- min
- مِن
- any
- rasūlin
- رَّسُولٍ
- Messenger
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- bilisāni
- بِلِسَانِ
- with the language
- qawmihi
- قَوْمِهِۦ
- (of) his people
- liyubayyina
- لِيُبَيِّنَ
- so that he might make clear
- lahum
- لَهُمْۖ
- for them
- fayuḍillu
- فَيُضِلُّ
- Then Allah lets go astray
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Then Allah lets go astray
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُ
- He wills
- wayahdī
- وَيَهْدِى
- and guides
- man
- مَن
- whom
- yashāu
- يَشَآءُۚ
- He wills
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- And He
- l-ʿazīzu
- ٱلْعَزِيزُ
- (is) the All-Mighty
- l-ḥakīmu
- ٱلْحَكِيمُ
- the All-Wise
And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 4)Tafsir
وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مُوْسٰى بِاٰيٰتِنَآ اَنْ اَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ ەۙ وَذَكِّرْهُمْ بِاَيّٰىمِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوْرٍ ٥
- walaqad
- وَلَقَدْ
- And verily
- arsalnā
- أَرْسَلْنَا
- We sent
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- Musa
- biāyātinā
- بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ
- with Our Signs
- an
- أَنْ
- that
- akhrij
- أَخْرِجْ
- "Bring out
- qawmaka
- قَوْمَكَ
- your people
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-ẓulumāti
- ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ
- the darkness[es]
- ilā
- إِلَى
- to
- l-nūri
- ٱلنُّورِ
- the light
- wadhakkir'hum
- وَذَكِّرْهُم
- And remind them
- bi-ayyāmi
- بِأَيَّىٰمِ
- of the days
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah"
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- fī
- فِى
- in
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- that
- laāyātin
- لَءَايَٰتٍ
- surely (are) the signs
- likulli
- لِّكُلِّ
- for everyone
- ṣabbārin
- صَبَّارٍ
- patient
- shakūrin
- شَكُورٍ
- and thankful
And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], "Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of Allah." Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 5)Tafsir
وَاِذْ قَالَ مُوْسٰى لِقَوْمِهِ اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذْ اَنْجٰىكُمْ مِّنْ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُوْمُوْنَكُمْ سُوْۤءَ الْعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُوْنَ اَبْنَاۤءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُوْنَ نِسَاۤءَكُمْ ۗوَفِيْ ذٰلِكُمْ بَلَاۤءٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيْمٌ ࣖ ٦
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- qāla
- قَالَ
- said
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰ
- Musa
- liqawmihi
- لِقَوْمِهِ
- to his people
- udh'kurū
- ٱذْكُرُوا۟
- "Remember
- niʿ'mata
- نِعْمَةَ
- (the) Favor of Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (the) Favor of Allah
- ʿalaykum
- عَلَيْكُمْ
- upon you
- idh
- إِذْ
- when
- anjākum
- أَنجَىٰكُم
- He saved you
- min
- مِّنْ
- from
- āli
- ءَالِ
- (the) people
- fir'ʿawna
- فِرْعَوْنَ
- (of) Firaun
- yasūmūnakum
- يَسُومُونَكُمْ
- they were afflicting you
- sūa
- سُوٓءَ
- (with) evil
- l-ʿadhābi
- ٱلْعَذَابِ
- torment
- wayudhabbiḥūna
- وَيُذَبِّحُونَ
- and were slaughtering
- abnāakum
- أَبْنَآءَكُمْ
- your sons
- wayastaḥyūna
- وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ
- and letting live
- nisāakum
- نِسَآءَكُمْۚ
- your women
- wafī
- وَفِى
- And in
- dhālikum
- ذَٰلِكُم
- that
- balāon
- بَلَآءٌ
- (was) a trial
- min
- مِّن
- from
- rabbikum
- رَّبِّكُمْ
- your Lord
- ʿaẓīmun
- عَظِيمٌ
- great"
And [recall, O Children of Israel], when Moses said to his people, "Remember the favor of Allah upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who were afflicting you with the worst torment and were slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord. (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 6)Tafsir
وَاِذْ تَاَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَىِٕنْ شَكَرْتُمْ لَاَزِيْدَنَّكُمْ وَلَىِٕنْ كَفَرْتُمْ اِنَّ عَذَابِيْ لَشَدِيْدٌ ٧
- wa-idh
- وَإِذْ
- And when
- ta-adhana
- تَأَذَّنَ
- proclaimed
- rabbukum
- رَبُّكُمْ
- your Lord
- la-in
- لَئِن
- "If
- shakartum
- شَكَرْتُمْ
- you are thankful
- la-azīdannakum
- لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْۖ
- surely I will increase you;
- wala-in
- وَلَئِن
- but if
- kafartum
- كَفَرْتُمْ
- you are ungrateful
- inna
- إِنَّ
- indeed
- ʿadhābī
- عَذَابِى
- My punishment
- lashadīdun
- لَشَدِيدٌ
- (is) surely severe"
And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.'" (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 7)Tafsir
وَقَالَ مُوْسٰٓى اِنْ تَكْفُرُوْٓا اَنْتُمْ وَمَنْ فِى الْاَرْضِ جَمِيْعًا ۙفَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَغَنِيٌّ حَمِيْدٌ ٨
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And said
- mūsā
- مُوسَىٰٓ
- Musa
- in
- إِن
- "If
- takfurū
- تَكْفُرُوٓا۟
- you disbelieve
- antum
- أَنتُمْ
- you
- waman
- وَمَن
- and whoever
- fī
- فِى
- (is) in
- l-arḍi
- ٱلْأَرْضِ
- the earth
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًا
- all
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- then indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- laghaniyyun
- لَغَنِىٌّ
- certainly (is) Free of need
- ḥamīdun
- حَمِيدٌ
- Praiseworthy"
And Moses said, "If you should disbelieve, you and whoever is on the earth entirely – indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy." (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 8)Tafsir
اَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَبَؤُا الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ قَوْمِ نُوْحٍ وَّعَادٍ وَّثَمُوْدَ ەۗ وَالَّذِيْنَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ ۗ لَا يَعْلَمُهُمْ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ ۗجَاۤءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنٰتِ فَرَدُّوْٓا اَيْدِيَهُمْ فِيْٓ اَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَقَالُوْٓا اِنَّا كَفَرْنَا بِمَآ اُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهٖ وَاِنَّا لَفِيْ شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُوْنَنَآ اِلَيْهِ مُرِيْبٍ ٩
- alam
- أَلَمْ
- Has not
- yatikum
- يَأْتِكُمْ
- come to you
- naba-u
- نَبَؤُا۟
- (the) news
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (of) those who
- min
- مِن
- (were) before you
- qablikum
- قَبْلِكُمْ
- (were) before you
- qawmi
- قَوْمِ
- the people
- nūḥin
- نُوحٍ
- of Nuh
- waʿādin
- وَعَادٍ
- and Aad
- wathamūda
- وَثَمُودَۛ
- and Thamud
- wa-alladhīna
- وَٱلَّذِينَ
- and those who
- min
- مِنۢ
- (were) after them?
- baʿdihim
- بَعْدِهِمْۛ
- (were) after them?
- lā
- لَا
- None
- yaʿlamuhum
- يَعْلَمُهُمْ
- knows them
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُۚ
- Allah
- jāathum
- جَآءَتْهُمْ
- Came to them
- rusuluhum
- رُسُلُهُم
- their Messengers
- bil-bayināti
- بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ
- with clear proofs
- faraddū
- فَرَدُّوٓا۟
- but they returned
- aydiyahum
- أَيْدِيَهُمْ
- their hands
- fī
- فِىٓ
- in
- afwāhihim
- أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ
- their mouths
- waqālū
- وَقَالُوٓا۟
- and they said
- innā
- إِنَّا
- "indeed, we
- kafarnā
- كَفَرْنَا
- [we] disbelieve
- bimā
- بِمَآ
- in what
- ur'sil'tum
- أُرْسِلْتُم
- you have been sent
- bihi
- بِهِۦ
- with [it]
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed, we
- lafī
- لَفِى
- (are) surely in
- shakkin
- شَكٍّ
- doubt
- mimmā
- مِّمَّا
- about what
- tadʿūnanā
- تَدْعُونَنَآ
- you invite us
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِ
- to it
- murībin
- مُرِيبٍ
- suspicious"
Has there not reached you the news of those before you – the people of Noah and Aad and Thamud and those after them? No one knows them [i.e., their number] but Allah. Their messengers brought them clear proofs, but they returned their hands to their mouths and said, "Indeed, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt." (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 9)Tafsir
۞ قَالَتْ رُسُلُهُمْ اَفِى اللّٰهِ شَكٌّ فَاطِرِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ يَدْعُوْكُمْ لِيَغْفِرَ لَكُمْ مِّنْ ذُنُوْبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّىۗ قَالُوْٓا اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا ۗ تُرِيْدُوْنَ اَنْ تَصُدُّوْنَا عَمَّا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ اٰبَاۤؤُنَا فَأْتُوْنَا بِسُلْطٰنٍ مُّبِيْنٍ ١٠

- قَالَتْ
- Said
- rusuluhum
- رُسُلُهُمْ
- their Messengers
- afī
- أَفِى
- "Can (there) be about
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- shakkun
- شَكٌّ
- any doubt
- fāṭiri
- فَاطِرِ
- (the) Creator
- l-samāwāti
- ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ
- (of) the heavens
- wal-arḍi
- وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ
- and the earth?
- yadʿūkum
- يَدْعُوكُمْ
- He invites you
- liyaghfira
- لِيَغْفِرَ
- so that He may forgive
- lakum
- لَكُم
- for you
- min
- مِّن
- [of]
- dhunūbikum
- ذُنُوبِكُمْ
- your sins
- wayu-akhirakum
- وَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْ
- and give you respite
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- for
- ajalin
- أَجَلٍ
- a term
- musamman
- مُّسَمًّىۚ
- appointed"
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- They said
- in
- إِنْ
- "Not
- antum
- أَنتُمْ
- you
- illā
- إِلَّا
- (are) but
- basharun
- بَشَرٌ
- a human
- mith'lunā
- مِّثْلُنَا
- like us
- turīdūna
- تُرِيدُونَ
- you wish
- an
- أَن
- to
- taṣuddūnā
- تَصُدُّونَا
- hinder us
- ʿammā
- عَمَّا
- from what
- kāna
- كَانَ
- used to
- yaʿbudu
- يَعْبُدُ
- worship
- ābāunā
- ءَابَآؤُنَا
- our forefathers
- fatūnā
- فَأْتُونَا
- So bring us
- bisul'ṭānin
- بِسُلْطَٰنٍ
- an authority
- mubīnin
- مُّبِينٍ
- clear"
Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays you [i.e., your death] for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority [i.e., evidence]." (QS. [14] Ibrahim: 10)Tafsir
