Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Ra'd Verse 21

Ar-Ra'd [13]: 21 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَالَّذِيْنَ يَصِلُوْنَ مَآ اَمَرَ اللّٰهُ بِهٖٓ اَنْ يُّوْصَلَ وَيَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ وَيَخَافُوْنَ سُوْۤءَ الْحِسَابِ ۗ (الرعد : ١٣)

wa-alladhīna
وَٱلَّذِينَ
And those who
yaṣilūna
يَصِلُونَ
join
مَآ
what
amara
أَمَرَ
(has been) commanded
l-lahu
ٱللَّهُ
(by) Allah
bihi
بِهِۦٓ
[for it]
an
أَن
to
yūṣala
يُوصَلَ
be joined
wayakhshawna
وَيَخْشَوْنَ
and fear
rabbahum
رَبَّهُمْ
their Lord
wayakhāfūna
وَيَخَافُونَ
and are afraid
sūa
سُوٓءَ
(of) the evil
l-ḥisābi
ٱلْحِسَابِ
the account

Transliteration:

Wallazeena yasiloona maaa amaral laahu bihee an yoosala wa yakhshawna Rabbahum wa yakhaafoona sooo'al hisaab (QS. ar-Raʿd:21)

English / Sahih Translation:

And those who join that which Allah has ordered to be joined and fear their Lord and are afraid of the evil of [their] account, (QS. Ar-Ra'd, ayah 21)

and those who maintain the relationships Allah has commanded to be maintained and fear their Lord and are frightful of evil reckoning,

Who keep together what God has ordained held together, and fear their Lord and dread the hardship of the Reckoning,

And those who unite the bonds God has commanded to be joined (among kin as a requirement of blood relationship, and among people as required by human social interdependence), and stand in awe of their Lord, and fearful of (facing) the most evil reckoning;

These are the persons who keep the ties (of love and relationship) Allâh has commanded to be kept, who hold their Lord in awe and who dread the evil reckoning.

English Literal

And those who connect what God ordered/commanded with it that (it) be connected , and they fear their Lord, and they fear the account`s/calculation`s evil .

Those who unite what Allah has commanded to be united, and fear their Lord, and apprehend the evil of the account.

Those who fulfil the Covenant of Allah and break not the pact,

Those who join that which Allah has commanded to be joined (i.e. they are good to their relatives and do not sever the bond of kinship), fear their Lord, and dread the terrible reckoning (i.e. abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden and perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained).

Tafsir jalalayn

and such as cement what God has commanded should be cemented, of faith and kinship ties and so forth, and fear their Lord, that is, His Threat [of punishment], and dread an awful reckoning -- a similar [statement] has preceded;

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَالَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَا أَمَرَ اللّهُ بِهِ أَن يُوصَلَ

And those who join that which Allah has commanded to be joined,

they are good to their relatives and do not sever the bond of kinship.

They are also kind to the poor and the needy and generous in nature,

وَيَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ

and fear their Lord,

in what they do or do not do of actions and statements. They remember that Allah is watching during all of this and are afraid of His terrifying reckoning in the Hereafter. Therefore, all their affairs are on the straight path and correct, whether they are active or idle, and in all of their affairs, including those that affect others,

وَيَخَافُونَ سُوءَ الحِسَابِ



and dread the terrible reckoning
