Al-Qur'an Surah Yusuf Verse 90
Yusuf [12]: 90 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
قَالُوْٓا ءَاِنَّكَ لَاَنْتَ يُوْسُفُۗ قَالَ اَنَا۠ يُوْسُفُ وَهٰذَآ اَخِيْ قَدْ مَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْنَاۗ اِنَّهٗ مَنْ يَّتَّقِ وَيَصْبِرْ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُضِيْعُ اَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ (يوسف : ١٢)

Transliteration:
Qaaloo 'a innaka la anta Yoosufu qaala ana Yoosufu wa haazaaa akhee qad mannal laahu 'alainaa innahoo mai yattaqi wa yasbir fa innal laaha laa yudee'u ajral muhsineen(QS. Yūsuf:90)
English / Sahih Translation:
They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." (QS. Yusuf, ayah 90)
Mufti Taqi Usmani
They said, “Is it that you are, in fact, Yūsuf?” He said, “I am Yūsuf, and this is my brother. Allah has been very kind to us. Surely, whoever fears Allah and observes patience, Allah does not let the reward of such good people to go to waste.”

They replied ˹in shock˺, “Are you really Joseph?” He said, “I am Joseph, and here is my brother ˹Benjamin˺! Allah has truly been gracious to us. Surely whoever is mindful ˹of Allah˺ and patient, then certainly Allah never discounts the reward of the good-doers.”

They said, “Are you really Joseph?” He said, “I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has surely been gracious to us. Whoever fears Allah and remains patient, Allah will never let the reward of those who do good to be lost.”

They exclaimed: "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said: "Yes, I am Joseph and this is my brother. Allah has surely been gracious to us. Indeed whoever fears Allah and remains patient, Allah does not allow the reward of such people to go to waste."

They said: "Surely you are not Joseph!" "I am Joseph," he said, "and this is my brother. God has been gracious to us; for God does not verily deprive those who fear Him and are patient of the recompense of those who are good."

They said, “Are you, in truth you, really Yusuf?” He said, “I am Yusuf and this is my brother; indeed Allah has bestowed favour upon us; undoubtedly whoever practices piety and patience – so Allah does not waste the wages of the righteous.”

They said, ‘Are you really Joseph?!’ He said, ‘I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Certainly Allah has shown us favour. Indeed if one is Godwary and patient Allah does not waste the reward of the virtuous.’

They said: "Is it indeed you who are Joseph?" He said: "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. God has indeed been gracious to us. Surely whoever keeps from disobedience to God in reverence for Him and piety, and is patient – surely God will not leave to waste the reward of those devoted to doing good as if seeing God."
Amatul Rahman Omar
They (were startled and) said, `Are you (Joseph)? Yes you are Joseph indeed!´ He said, `(Yes) I am Joseph, and this is my brother (Benjamin), Allâh has indeed been gracious to us. As a matter of fact, he who guards against evil (seeking refuge in Him) and patiently perseveres, will find that Allâh suffers not the reward of the doers of good to others to be lost.´
English Literal
They said: "Are you, you are (E) Joseph?" He said: "I am Joseph and that (is) my brother, God had blessed on us, that who, whom fears and obeys, and is patient, so that God does not loose/waste/destroy the good doer`s reward ."
Faridul Haque
They said, "Are you, in truth you, really Yusuf?" He said, "I am Yusuf and this is my brother; indeed Allah has bestowed favour upon us; undoubtedly whoever practices piety and patience - so Allah does not waste the wages of the righteous."

He said, "Do you know what you did with Joseph and his brother in your ignorance?"

They said: "Are you indeed Yusuf (Joseph)?" He said: "I am Yusuf (Joseph), and this is my brother (Benjamin). Allah has indeed been gracious to us. Verily, he who fears Allah with obedience to Him (by abstaining from sins and evil deeds, and by performing righteous good deeds), and is patient, then surely, Allah makes not the reward of the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112) to be lost."

He said: Do you know how you treated Joseph and his brother, when you were ignorant?

They said: Are you indeed Yusuf? He said: I am Yusuf and this is my brother; Allah has indeed been gracious to us; surely he who guards (against evil) and is patient (is rewarded) for surely Allah does not waste the reward of those who do good.

They said: Is it indeed thou who art Joseph? He said: I am Joseph and this is my brother. Allah hath shown us favour. Lo! he who wardeth off (evil) and endureth (findeth favour); for lo! Allah loseth not the wages of the kindly.

Then they inquired, "Are you Joseph?" He said, "Yes, I am Joseph and this is my brother. God has indeed been gracious to us. One who exercises patience and observes piety should know that God does not ignore the reward of the righteous ones."

They said: 'Are you Joseph' 'I am Joseph' he answered, 'and this is my brother. Allah has been gracious to us. Those who keep from evil and are patient, indeed, Allah does not let the wage of the good doers go to waste'

They said: "Are you indeed Yusuf" He said: "I am Yusuf, and this is my brother. Allah has indeed been gracious to us. He who has Taqwa, and is patient, then surely, Allah makes not the reward of the gooddoers to be lost."

They exclaimed, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He replied, "I am Joseph and this is my brother. God has indeed been gracious to us. The truth is that God does not waste the reward of those who do good, who are righteous and steadfast."
Talal Itani
They said, “Is that you, Joseph?” He said, “I am Joseph, and this is my brother. God has been gracious to us. He who practices piety and patience—God never fails to reward the righteous.”
Tafsir jalalayn
They said -- after recognising him by his noble traits -- cautiously [inquiring]; `Is it really (read a-innaka, either pronouncing both hamzas, or by not pronouncing the second, but in both cases inserting an alif) you, Joseph?'. He said, `I am [indeed] Joseph, and this is my brother. God has truly shown favour, He has been gracious, to us, by bringing [us] together. Verily if one fears, [if] one fears God, and endures, what happens to him, God does not waste the wage of those who are virtuous', in this [respect] (the overt noun [al- muhsinn, `the virtuous'] has replaced the [third person] pronominalisation).
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
قَالُواْ أَإِنَّكَ لَااَنتَ يُوسُفُ
Are you indeed Yusuf!
in amazement, because they had been meeting him for more than two years while unaware of who he really was. Yet, he knew who they were and hid this news from them. Therefore, they asked in astonishment,
أَإِنَّكَ لَاإَنتَ يُوسُفُ
قَالَ أَنَاْ يُوسُفُ وَهَـذَا أَخِي
Are you indeed Yusuf! He said;"I am Yusuf, and this is my brother..."
Yusuf said next,
قَدْ مَنَّ اللّهُ عَلَيْنَا
`Allah has indeed been gracious to us.
by gathering us together after being separated all this time,'
إِنَّهُ مَن يَتَّقِ وَيِصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
