Al-Qur'an Surah Yusuf Verse 64
Yusuf [12]: 64 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
قَالَ هَلْ اٰمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ اِلَّا كَمَآ اَمِنْتُكُمْ عَلٰٓى اَخِيْهِ مِنْ قَبْلُۗ فَاللّٰهُ خَيْرٌ حٰفِظًا وَّهُوَ اَرْحَمُ الرّٰحِمِيْنَ (يوسف : ١٢)

- فَٱللَّهُ
- But Allah

- خَيْرٌ

- Guardian
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- and He
- arḥamu
- أَرْحَمُ
- (is the) Most Merciful
- l-rāḥimīna
- ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
- (of) the merciful"
Transliteration:
Qaala hal aamanukum 'alihi illaa kamaa amintukum 'alaaa akheehimin qabl; fal laahu khairun haafizanw wa Huwa arhamur Raahimeen(QS. Yūsuf:64)
English / Sahih Translation:
He said, "Should I entrust you with him except [under coercion] as I entrusted you with his brother before? But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." (QS. Yusuf, ayah 64)
Mufti Taqi Usmani
He said, “Shall I trust you about him as I trusted you earlier about his brother? Well, Allah is the best guardian, and He is the Most-Merciful of all the merciful.”

He responded, “Should I trust you with him as I once trusted you with his brother ˹Joseph˺? But ˹only˺ Allah is the best Protector, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.”

English Literal
He said: "Do I, I entrust you on him, except as I entrusted you on his brother from before? So God (is the) best protector , and he (is) most merciful (of) the merciful."

Tafsir jalalayn
He said, `Should I -- [I will] only -- trust you with him like I trusted you with his brother, Joseph, before? despite [the fact] that you have done to him what you have done? Yet God is best at guarding (hifzan; a variant reading has hfizan, `a guardian', as a specification, similar to when they say li'Llhi darruhu frisan, `By God, how excellent a horseman he is!'); and He is the Most Merciful of merciful ones', and so I hope that He will show favour [to me] by guarding him.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
قَالَ هَلْ امَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ كَمَا أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَى أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ
He said;"Can I entrust him to you except as I entrusted his brother (Yusuf) to you aforetime!
He asked them, `Will you do to him except what you did to his brother Yusuf before, when you took him away from me and separated me from him.'
فَاللّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
But Allah is the Best to guard, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.
Yaqub said, `Allah has the most mercy with me among all those who show mercy, He is compassionate with me for my old age, feebleness and eagerness for my son. I invoke Allah to return him to me, and to allow him and I to be together; for surely, He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.
