Al-Qur'an Surah Yusuf Verse 61

Yusuf [12]: 61 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

قَالُوْا سَنُرَاوِدُ عَنْهُ اَبَاهُ وَاِنَّا لَفَاعِلُوْنَ (يوسف : ١٢)

qālū
قَالُوا۟
They said
sanurāwidu
سَنُرَٰوِدُ
"We will try to get permission
ʿanhu
عَنْهُ
for him
abāhu
أَبَاهُ
(from) his father
wa-innā
وَإِنَّا
and indeed we
lafāʿilūna
لَفَٰعِلُونَ
surely will do"

Transliteration:

Qaaloo sanuraawidu 'anhu abaahu wa innaa lafaa'iloon (QS. Yūsuf:61)

English / Sahih Translation:

They said, "We will attempt to dissuade his father from [keeping] him, and indeed, we will do [it]." (QS. Yusuf, ayah 61)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

They said, “We shall persuade his father about him and we will certainly do it.”

They promised, “We will try to convince his father to let him come. We will certainly do ˹our best˺.”

They said, “We will seek him from his father – this we must surely do.”

They said, ‘We will solicit him from his father. [That] we will surely do.’

They said: "We will try to win him from his father, indeed we will do our utmost."

They said: "We will entice/solicit from him his father, and we are making/doing (E)."

Tafsir jalalayn

They said, `We will try to tempt his father away from him, that is, we will try our hardest to seek him from him. That we will surely do'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

"...nor shall you come near me."

They said;"We shall try to get permission (for him) from his father, and verily, we shall do it."

They said, `We will try our best to bring him with us, so that we spare no effort to prove to you that we are truthful in what we told you about ourselves.'
