Yusuf [12]: 45 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَقَالَ الَّذِيْ نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَادَّكَرَ بَعْدَ اُمَّةٍ اَنَا۠ اُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِتَأْوِيْلِهٖ فَاَرْسِلُوْنِ (يوسف : ١٢)

[I] will inform you
bitawīlihi
بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ
of its interpretation
fa-arsilūni
فَأَرْسِلُونِ
so send me forth

Transliteration:

Wa qaalal lazee najaa minhumaa waddakara ba'da ummatin ana unabbi'ukum bitalweelihee fa-arsiloon (QS. Yūsuf:45)

English / Sahih Translation:

But the one who was freed and remembered after a time said, "I will inform you of its interpretation, so send me forth." (QS. Yusuf, ayah 45)

And said the one who was released (from the prison) out of the two, and recalled (Yūsuf) after a long time, “I shall tell you its interpretation. Just send me (to Yūsuf).”

˹Finally,˺ the surviving ex-prisoner remembered ˹Joseph˺ after a long time and said, “I will tell you its interpretation, so send me forth ˹to Joseph˺.”

Then of the two prisoners, the one who had been set free, now remembered, after the lapse of a long period, what Joseph had said. He said: "I will tell you the interpretation of this dream; just send me (to Joseph in prison)."

English Literal

And who was saved/rescued from them (B) and he remembered after a generation (and said): "I inform you with its interpretation/explanation, so send me."

And he of the two who was released, that is, of the two young men, namely, the cup-bearer, remembering (iddakara; the original t' [of tadhakkara] has been changed to a dl and assimilated with the dhl), after a time, [after] a period of time, the predicament of Joseph, said, `I will inform you of its interpretation; so send me forth', so they sent him forth and he came to Joseph, and said;

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَقَالَ الَّذِي نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَادَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ

Then the man who was released, now at length remembered and said;

The man who was saved from the two, who were Yusuf's companions in prison, remembered. Shaytan plotted to make him forget the request of Yusuf, to mention his story to the king. Now, years later, he remembered after forgetfulness and said to the king and his entourage,

أَنَاْ أُنَبِّيُكُم بِتَأْوِيلِهِ

I will tell you its interpretation,

the interpretation of this dream,

فَأَرْسِلُونِ



so send me forth.

to the prison, to Yusuf, the man of truth.

So they sent him, and he said to Yusuf
