Al-Qur'an Surah Yusuf Verse 29

Yusuf [12]: 29 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

يُوْسُفُ اَعْرِضْ عَنْ هٰذَا وَاسْتَغْفِرِيْ لِذَنْۢبِكِۖ اِنَّكِ كُنْتِ مِنَ الْخٰطِـِٕيْنَ ࣖ (يوسف : ١٢)

And ask forgiveness

مِنَ
of
l-khāṭiīna
ٱلْخَاطِـِٔينَ
the sinful"

Transliteration:

Yoosofu a'rid 'an haaza wastaghfiree lizambiki innaki kunti minal khaati'een (QS. Yūsuf:29)

English / Sahih Translation:

Joseph, ignore this. And, [my wife], ask forgiveness for your sin. Indeed, you were of the sinful." (QS. Yusuf, ayah 29)

O Yūsuf, ignore this matter, and you (O woman,) seek forgiveness for your sin, for you were guilty infact.”

Joseph object/turn away from that, and (to her) ask for forgiveness (F) for your crime (F), that you (F) were (F) from the sinners/mistaken .

Then he said; O, Joseph, ignore this, matter and do not mention it [to anyone], lest it be broadcast; and you, O Zulaykh, ask forgiveness for your sin; surely you have been of the erring', the sinful; but the tale was reported and became public.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَـذَا

O Yusuf ! Turn away from this!

do not mention to anyone what has happened,

وَاسْتَغْفِرِي لِذَنبِكِ

And ask forgiveness for your sin,

addressing his wife.

The Aziz was an easy man, or gave excuse to his wife because she saw in Yusuf an appeal she could not resist. He said to her, `Ask forgiveness for your sin, the evil desire that you wanted to satisfy with this young man, and then inventing false accusations about him,'

إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ الْخَاطِيِينَ



verily, you were of the sinful.
