اِرْجِعُوْٓا اِلٰٓى اَبِيْكُمْ فَقُوْلُوْا يٰٓاَبَانَآ اِنَّ ابْنَكَ سَرَقَۚ وَمَا شَهِدْنَآ اِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حٰفِظِيْنَ ٨١
- ir'jiʿū
- ٱرْجِعُوٓا۟
- Return
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- to
- abīkum
- أَبِيكُمْ
- your father
- faqūlū
- فَقُولُوا۟
- and say
- yāabānā
- يَٰٓأَبَانَآ
- O our father!
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- ib'naka
- ٱبْنَكَ
- your son
- saraqa
- سَرَقَ
- has stolen
- wamā
- وَمَا
- and not
- shahid'nā
- شَهِدْنَآ
- we testify
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- bimā
- بِمَا
- of what
- ʿalim'nā
- عَلِمْنَا
- we knew
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- we were
- lil'ghaybi
- لِلْغَيْبِ
- of the unseen
- ḥāfiẓīna
- حَٰفِظِينَ
- guardians
Return to your father and say, 'O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen. (QS. [12] Yusuf: 81)Tafsir
وَسْـَٔلِ الْقَرْيَةَ الَّتِيْ كُنَّا فِيْهَا وَالْعِيْرَ الَّتِيْٓ اَقْبَلْنَا فِيْهَاۗ وَاِنَّا لَصٰدِقُوْنَ ٨٢
- wasali
- وَسْـَٔلِ
- And ask
- l-qaryata
- ٱلْقَرْيَةَ
- the town
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِى
- where
- kunnā
- كُنَّا
- we were
- fīhā
- فِيهَا
- [in it]
- wal-ʿīra
- وَٱلْعِيرَ
- and the caravan
- allatī
- ٱلَّتِىٓ
- which
- aqbalnā
- أَقْبَلْنَا
- we returned
- fīhā
- فِيهَاۖ
- [in it]
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- And indeed we
- laṣādiqūna
- لَصَٰدِقُونَ
- surely (are) truthful
And ask the city in which we were and the caravan in which we came – and indeed, we are truthful.'" (QS. [12] Yusuf: 82)Tafsir
قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ اَنْفُسُكُمْ اَمْرًاۗ فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيْلٌ ۗعَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنْ يَّأْتِيَنِيْ بِهِمْ جَمِيْعًاۗ اِنَّهٗ هُوَ الْعَلِيْمُ الْحَكِيْمُ ٨٣
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- bal
- بَلْ
- "Nay
- sawwalat
- سَوَّلَتْ
- have enticed
- lakum
- لَكُمْ
- you
- anfusukum
- أَنفُسُكُمْ
- your souls
- amran
- أَمْرًاۖ
- something
- faṣabrun
- فَصَبْرٌ
- so patience
- jamīlun
- جَمِيلٌۖ
- (is) beautiful
- ʿasā
- عَسَى
- Perhaps
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah
- an
- أَن
- will bring them to me
- yatiyanī
- يَأْتِيَنِى
- will bring them to me
- bihim
- بِهِمْ
- will bring them to me
- jamīʿan
- جَمِيعًاۚ
- all
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed, He
- huwa
- هُوَ
- He
- l-ʿalīmu
- ٱلْعَلِيمُ
- (is) the All-Knower
- l-ḥakīmu
- ٱلْحَكِيمُ
- All-Wise"
[Jacob] said, "Rather, your souls have enticed you to something, so patience is most fitting. Perhaps Allah will bring them to me all together. Indeed, it is He who is the Knowing, the Wise." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 83)Tafsir
وَتَوَلّٰى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يٰٓاَسَفٰى عَلٰى يُوْسُفَ وَابْيَضَّتْ عَيْنٰهُ مِنَ الْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيْمٌ ٨٤
- watawallā
- وَتَوَلَّىٰ
- And he turned away
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُمْ
- from them
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- and said
- yāasafā
- يَٰٓأَسَفَىٰ
- "Alas my grief
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- over
- yūsufa
- يُوسُفَ
- Yusuf!"
- wa-ib'yaḍḍat
- وَٱبْيَضَّتْ
- And became white
- ʿaynāhu
- عَيْنَاهُ
- his eyes
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-ḥuz'ni
- ٱلْحُزْنِ
- the grief
- fahuwa
- فَهُوَ
- and he (was)
- kaẓīmun
- كَظِيمٌ
- a suppressor
And he turned away from them and said, "Oh, my sorrow over Joseph," and his eyes became white from grief, for he was [of that] a suppressor. (QS. [12] Yusuf: 84)Tafsir
قَالُوْا تَاللّٰهِ تَفْتَؤُا تَذْكُرُ يُوْسُفَ حَتّٰى تَكُوْنَ حَرَضًا اَوْ تَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْهَالِكِيْنَ ٨٥
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- tal-lahi
- تَٱللَّهِ
- "By Allah
- tafta-u
- تَفْتَؤُا۟
- you will not cease
- tadhkuru
- تَذْكُرُ
- remembering
- yūsufa
- يُوسُفَ
- Yusuf
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- takūna
- تَكُونَ
- you become
- ḥaraḍan
- حَرَضًا
- fatally ill
- aw
- أَوْ
- or
- takūna
- تَكُونَ
- become
- mina
- مِنَ
- of
- l-hālikīna
- ٱلْهَٰلِكِينَ
- those who perish"
They said, "By Allah, you will not cease remembering Joseph until you become fatally ill or become of those who perish." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 85)Tafsir
قَالَ اِنَّمَآ اَشْكُوْا بَثِّيْ وَحُزْنِيْٓ اِلَى اللّٰهِ وَاَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ ٨٦
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- innamā
- إِنَّمَآ
- "Only
- ashkū
- أَشْكُوا۟
- I complain
- bathī
- بَثِّى
- (of) my suffering
- waḥuz'nī
- وَحُزْنِىٓ
- and my grief
- ilā
- إِلَى
- to
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- wa-aʿlamu
- وَأَعْلَمُ
- and I know
- mina
- مِنَ
- from
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- mā
- مَا
- what
- lā
- لَا
- not
- taʿlamūna
- تَعْلَمُونَ
- you know
He said, "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know. (QS. [12] Yusuf: 86)Tafsir
يٰبَنِيَّ اذْهَبُوْا فَتَحَسَّسُوْا مِنْ يُّوْسُفَ وَاَخِيْهِ وَلَا تَا۟يْـَٔسُوْا مِنْ رَّوْحِ اللّٰهِ ۗاِنَّهٗ لَا يَا۟يْـَٔسُ مِنْ رَّوْحِ اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ ٨٧
- yābaniyya
- يَٰبَنِىَّ
- O my sons!
- idh'habū
- ٱذْهَبُوا۟
- Go
- fataḥassasū
- فَتَحَسَّسُوا۟
- and inquire
- min
- مِن
- about
- yūsufa
- يُوسُفَ
- Yusuf
- wa-akhīhi
- وَأَخِيهِ
- and his brother
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- tāy'asū
- تَا۟يْـَٔسُوا۟
- despair
- min
- مِن
- of
- rawḥi
- رَّوْحِ
- (the) Mercy of Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۖ
- (the) Mercy of Allah
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed
- lā
- لَا
- none
- yāy'asu
- يَا۟يْـَٔسُ
- despairs
- min
- مِن
- of
- rawḥi
- رَّوْحِ
- (the) Mercy of Allah
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (the) Mercy of Allah
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- l-qawmu
- ٱلْقَوْمُ
- the people
- l-kāfirūna
- ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ
- the disbelievers"
O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and despair not of relief from Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of relief from Allah except the disbelieving people." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 87)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوْا عَلَيْهِ قَالُوْا يٰٓاَيُّهَا الْعَزِيْزُ مَسَّنَا وَاَهْلَنَا الضُّرُّ وَجِئْنَا بِبِضَاعَةٍ مُّزْجٰىةٍ فَاَوْفِ لَنَا الْكَيْلَ وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْنَاۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَجْزِى الْمُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ ٨٨
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- So when
- dakhalū
- دَخَلُوا۟
- they entered
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- upon him
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- yāayyuhā
- يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
- "O Aziz!
- l-ʿazīzu
- ٱلْعَزِيزُ
- "O Aziz!
- massanā
- مَسَّنَا
- Has touched us
- wa-ahlanā
- وَأَهْلَنَا
- and our family
- l-ḍuru
- ٱلضُّرُّ
- the adversity
- waji'nā
- وَجِئْنَا
- and we have come
- bibiḍāʿatin
- بِبِضَٰعَةٍ
- with goods
- muz'jātin
- مُّزْجَىٰةٍ
- (of) little value
- fa-awfi
- فَأَوْفِ
- but pay (in) full
- lanā
- لَنَا
- to us
- l-kayla
- ٱلْكَيْلَ
- the measure
- wataṣaddaq
- وَتَصَدَّقْ
- and be charitable
- ʿalaynā
- عَلَيْنَآۖ
- to us
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- yajzī
- يَجْزِى
- rewards
- l-mutaṣadiqīna
- ٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ
- the charitable"
So when they entered upon him [i.e., Joseph], they said, "O Azeez, adversity has touched us and our family, and we have come with goods poor in quality, but give us full measure and be charitable to us. Indeed, Allah rewards the charitable." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 88)Tafsir
قَالَ هَلْ عَلِمْتُمْ مَّا فَعَلْتُمْ بِيُوْسُفَ وَاَخِيْهِ اِذْ اَنْتُمْ جَاهِلُوْنَ ٨٩
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- hal
- هَلْ
- "Do
- ʿalim'tum
- عَلِمْتُم
- you know
- mā
- مَّا
- what
- faʿaltum
- فَعَلْتُم
- you did
- biyūsufa
- بِيُوسُفَ
- with Yusuf
- wa-akhīhi
- وَأَخِيهِ
- and his brother
- idh
- إِذْ
- when
- antum
- أَنتُمْ
- you were
- jāhilūna
- جَٰهِلُونَ
- ignorant?"
He said, "Do you know what you did with Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?" (QS. [12] Yusuf: 89)Tafsir
قَالُوْٓا ءَاِنَّكَ لَاَنْتَ يُوْسُفُۗ قَالَ اَنَا۠ يُوْسُفُ وَهٰذَآ اَخِيْ قَدْ مَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْنَاۗ اِنَّهٗ مَنْ يَّتَّقِ وَيَصْبِرْ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُضِيْعُ اَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ ٩٠
- qālū
- قَالُوٓا۟
- They said
- a-innaka
- أَءِنَّكَ
- "Are you indeed
- la-anta
- لَأَنتَ
- [surely you]
- yūsufu
- يُوسُفُۖ
- Yusuf?"
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- anā
- أَنَا۠
- "I am
- yūsufu
- يُوسُفُ
- Yusuf
- wahādhā
- وَهَٰذَآ
- and this
- akhī
- أَخِىۖ
- (is) my brother
- qad
- قَدْ
- Indeed
- manna
- مَنَّ
- Allah has been gracious
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- Allah has been gracious
- ʿalaynā
- عَلَيْنَآۖ
- to us
- innahu
- إِنَّهُۥ
- Indeed, he
- man
- مَن
- who
- yattaqi
- يَتَّقِ
- fears Allah
- wayaṣbir
- وَيَصْبِرْ
- and (is) patient
- fa-inna
- فَإِنَّ
- then indeed
- l-laha
- ٱللَّهَ
- Allah
- lā
- لَا
- (does) not
- yuḍīʿu
- يُضِيعُ
- let go waste
- ajra
- أَجْرَ
- (the) reward
- l-muḥ'sinīna
- ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
- (of) the good-doers"
They said, "Are you indeed Joseph?" He said, "I am Joseph, and this is my brother. Allah has certainly favored us. Indeed, he who fears Allah and is patient, then indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 90)Tafsir
