قَالُوْا سَنُرَاوِدُ عَنْهُ اَبَاهُ وَاِنَّا لَفَاعِلُوْنَ ٦١
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- sanurāwidu
- سَنُرَٰوِدُ
- "We will try to get permission
- ʿanhu
- عَنْهُ
- for him
- abāhu
- أَبَاهُ
- (from) his father
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- and indeed we
- lafāʿilūna
- لَفَٰعِلُونَ
- surely will do"
They said, "We will attempt to dissuade his father from [keeping] him, and indeed, we will do [it]." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 61)Tafsir
وَقَالَ لِفِتْيٰنِهِ اجْعَلُوْا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ فِيْ رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُوْنَهَآ اِذَا انْقَلَبُوْٓا اِلٰٓى اَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُوْنَ ٦٢
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And he said
- lifit'yānihi
- لِفِتْيَٰنِهِ
- to his servants
- ij'ʿalū
- ٱجْعَلُوا۟
- "Put
- biḍāʿatahum
- بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ
- their merchandise
- fī
- فِى
- in
- riḥālihim
- رِحَالِهِمْ
- their saddlebags
- laʿallahum
- لَعَلَّهُمْ
- so that they
- yaʿrifūnahā
- يَعْرِفُونَهَآ
- may recognize it
- idhā
- إِذَا
- when
- inqalabū
- ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟
- they go back
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- to
- ahlihim
- أَهْلِهِمْ
- their people
- laʿallahum
- لَعَلَّهُمْ
- so that they may
- yarjiʿūna
- يَرْجِعُونَ
- return"
And [Joseph] said to his servants, "Put their merchandise into their saddlebags so they might recognize it when they have gone back to their people that perhaps they will [again] return." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 62)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوْٓا اِلٰٓى اَبِيْهِمْ قَالُوْا يٰٓاَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ فَاَرْسِلْ مَعَنَآ اَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَاِنَّا لَهٗ لَحٰفِظُوْنَ ٦٣
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- So when
- rajaʿū
- رَجَعُوٓا۟
- they returned
- ilā
- إِلَىٰٓ
- to
- abīhim
- أَبِيهِمْ
- their father
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- they said
- yāabānā
- يَٰٓأَبَانَا
- "O our father!
- muniʿa
- مُنِعَ
- Has been denied
- minnā
- مِنَّا
- to us
- l-kaylu
- ٱلْكَيْلُ
- the measure
- fa-arsil
- فَأَرْسِلْ
- so send
- maʿanā
- مَعَنَآ
- with us
- akhānā
- أَخَانَا
- our brother
- naktal
- نَكْتَلْ
- (that) we will get measure
- wa-innā
- وَإِنَّا
- And indeed we
- lahu
- لَهُۥ
- for him
- laḥāfiẓūna
- لَحَٰفِظُونَ
- (will) surely (be) guardians"
So when they returned to their father, they said, "O our father, [further] measure has been denied to us, so send with us our brother [that] we will be given measure. And indeed, we will be his guardians." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 63)Tafsir
قَالَ هَلْ اٰمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ اِلَّا كَمَآ اَمِنْتُكُمْ عَلٰٓى اَخِيْهِ مِنْ قَبْلُۗ فَاللّٰهُ خَيْرٌ حٰفِظًا وَّهُوَ اَرْحَمُ الرّٰحِمِيْنَ ٦٤
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- hal
- هَلْ
- "Should
- āmanukum
- ءَامَنُكُمْ
- I entrust you
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- with him
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- kamā
- كَمَآ
- as
- amintukum
- أَمِنتُكُمْ
- I entrusted you
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰٓ
- with
- akhīhi
- أَخِيهِ
- his brother
- min
- مِن
- before?
- qablu
- قَبْلُۖ
- before?
- fal-lahu
- فَٱللَّهُ
- But Allah
- khayrun
- خَيْرٌ
- (is) the best
- ḥāfiẓan
- حَٰفِظًاۖ
- Guardian
- wahuwa
- وَهُوَ
- and He
- arḥamu
- أَرْحَمُ
- (is the) Most Merciful
- l-rāḥimīna
- ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ
- (of) the merciful"
He said, "Should I entrust you with him except [under coercion] as I entrusted you with his brother before? But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 64)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوْا مَتَاعَهُمْ وَجَدُوْا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ اِلَيْهِمْۗ قَالُوْا يٰٓاَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِيْۗ هٰذِهٖ بِضَاعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ اِلَيْنَا وَنَمِيْرُ اَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ اَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيْرٍۗ ذٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَّسِيْرٌ ٦٥
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- fataḥū
- فَتَحُوا۟
- they opened
- matāʿahum
- مَتَٰعَهُمْ
- their baggage
- wajadū
- وَجَدُوا۟
- they found
- biḍāʿatahum
- بِضَٰعَتَهُمْ
- their merchandise
- ruddat
- رُدَّتْ
- returned
- ilayhim
- إِلَيْهِمْۖ
- to them
- qālū
- قَالُوا۟
- They said
- yāabānā
- يَٰٓأَبَانَا
- "O our father!
- mā
- مَا
- What
- nabghī
- نَبْغِىۖ
- (could) we desire?
- hādhihi
- هَٰذِهِۦ
- This
- biḍāʿatunā
- بِضَٰعَتُنَا
- (is) our merchandise
- ruddat
- رُدَّتْ
- returned
- ilaynā
- إِلَيْنَاۖ
- to us
- wanamīru
- وَنَمِيرُ
- And we will get provision
- ahlanā
- أَهْلَنَا
- (for) our family
- wanaḥfaẓu
- وَنَحْفَظُ
- and we will protect
- akhānā
- أَخَانَا
- our brother
- wanazdādu
- وَنَزْدَادُ
- and get an increase
- kayla
- كَيْلَ
- measure
- baʿīrin
- بَعِيرٍۖ
- (of) a camel's (load)
- dhālika
- ذَٰلِكَ
- That
- kaylun
- كَيْلٌ
- (is) a measurement
- yasīrun
- يَسِيرٌ
- easy"
And when they opened their baggage, they found their merchandise returned to them. They said, "O our father, what [more] could we desire? This is our merchandise returned to us. And we will obtain supplies [i.e., food] for our family and protect our brother and obtain an increase of a camel's load; that is an easy measurement." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 65)Tafsir
قَالَ لَنْ اُرْسِلَهٗ مَعَكُمْ حَتّٰى تُؤْتُوْنِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ اللّٰهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِيْ بِهٖٓ اِلَّآ اَنْ يُّحَاطَ بِكُمْۚ فَلَمَّآ اٰتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مَا نَقُوْلُ وَكِيْلٌ ٦٦
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- lan
- لَنْ
- "Never
- ur'silahu
- أُرْسِلَهُۥ
- will I send him
- maʿakum
- مَعَكُمْ
- with you
- ḥattā
- حَتَّىٰ
- until
- tu'tūni
- تُؤْتُونِ
- you give to me
- mawthiqan
- مَوْثِقًا
- a promise
- mina
- مِّنَ
- by
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- latatunnanī
- لَتَأْتُنَّنِى
- that surely you will bring him to me
- bihi
- بِهِۦٓ
- that surely you will bring him to me
- illā
- إِلَّآ
- unless
- an
- أَن
- that
- yuḥāṭa
- يُحَاطَ
- you are surrounded"
- bikum
- بِكُمْۖ
- you are surrounded"
- falammā
- فَلَمَّآ
- And when
- ātawhu
- ءَاتَوْهُ
- they had given him
- mawthiqahum
- مَوْثِقَهُمْ
- their promise
- qāla
- قَالَ
- he said
- l-lahu
- ٱللَّهُ
- "Allah
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- over
- mā
- مَا
- what
- naqūlu
- نَقُولُ
- we say
- wakīlun
- وَكِيلٌ
- (is) a Guardian"
[Jacob] said, "Never will I send him with you until you give me a promise [i.e., oath] by Allah that you will bring him [back] to me, unless you should be surrounded [i.e., overcome by enemies]." And when they had given their promise, he said, "Allah, over what we say, is Entrusted." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 66)Tafsir
وَقَالَ يٰبَنِيَّ لَا تَدْخُلُوْا مِنْۢ بَابٍ وَّاحِدٍ وَّادْخُلُوْا مِنْ اَبْوَابٍ مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍۗ وَمَآ اُغْنِيْ عَنْكُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍۗ اِنِ الْحُكْمُ اِلَّا لِلّٰهِ ۗعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُتَوَكِّلُوْنَ ٦٧
- waqāla
- وَقَالَ
- And he said
- yābaniyya
- يَٰبَنِىَّ
- "O my sons!
- lā
- لَا
- (Do) not
- tadkhulū
- تَدْخُلُوا۟
- enter
- min
- مِنۢ
- from
- bābin
- بَابٍ
- one gate
- wāḥidin
- وَٰحِدٍ
- one gate
- wa-ud'khulū
- وَٱدْخُلُوا۟
- but enter
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- abwābin
- أَبْوَٰبٍ
- gates
- mutafarriqatin
- مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍۖ
- different
- wamā
- وَمَآ
- And not
- ugh'nī
- أُغْنِى
- I can avail
- ʿankum
- عَنكُم
- you
- mina
- مِّنَ
- against
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- min
- مِن
- any
- shayin
- شَىْءٍۖ
- thing
- ini
- إِنِ
- Not
- l-ḥuk'mu
- ٱلْحُكْمُ
- (is) the decision
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِۖ
- with Allah
- ʿalayhi
- عَلَيْهِ
- upon Him
- tawakkaltu
- تَوَكَّلْتُۖ
- I put my trust
- waʿalayhi
- وَعَلَيْهِ
- and upon Him
- falyatawakkali
- فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ
- let put (their) trust
- l-mutawakilūna
- ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ
- the ones who put trust"
And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against [the decree of] Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely [indeed] rely." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 67)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوْا مِنْ حَيْثُ اَمَرَهُمْ اَبُوْهُمْۗ مَا كَانَ يُغْنِيْ عَنْهُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ اِلَّا حَاجَةً فِيْ نَفْسِ يَعْقُوْبَ قَضٰىهَاۗ وَاِنَّهٗ لَذُوْ عِلْمٍ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنٰهُ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ ࣖ ٦٨
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- dakhalū
- دَخَلُوا۟
- they entered
- min
- مِنْ
- from
- ḥaythu
- حَيْثُ
- where
- amarahum
- أَمَرَهُمْ
- ordered them
- abūhum
- أَبُوهُم
- their father
- mā
- مَّا
- not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- it
- yugh'nī
- يُغْنِى
- avail(ed)
- ʿanhum
- عَنْهُم
- them
- mina
- مِّنَ
- against
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- Allah
- min
- مِن
- any
- shayin
- شَىْءٍ
- thing
- illā
- إِلَّا
- but
- ḥājatan
- حَاجَةً
- (it was) a need
- fī
- فِى
- of
- nafsi
- نَفْسِ
- Yaqub's soul
- yaʿqūba
- يَعْقُوبَ
- Yaqub's soul
- qaḍāhā
- قَضَىٰهَاۚ
- which he carried out
- wa-innahu
- وَإِنَّهُۥ
- And indeed, he
- ladhū
- لَذُو
- (was) a possessor
- ʿil'min
- عِلْمٍ
- (of) knowledge
- limā
- لِّمَا
- because
- ʿallamnāhu
- عَلَّمْنَٰهُ
- We had taught him
- walākinna
- وَلَٰكِنَّ
- but
- akthara
- أَكْثَرَ
- most
- l-nāsi
- ٱلنَّاسِ
- (of) the people
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿlamūna
- يَعْلَمُونَ
- know
And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allah at all except [it was] a need [i.e., concern] within the soul of Jacob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most of the people do not know. (QS. [12] Yusuf: 68)Tafsir
وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوْا عَلٰى يُوْسُفَ اٰوٰٓى اِلَيْهِ اَخَاهُ قَالَ اِنِّيْٓ اَنَا۠ اَخُوْكَ فَلَا تَبْتَىِٕسْ بِمَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ ٦٩
- walammā
- وَلَمَّا
- And when
- dakhalū
- دَخَلُوا۟
- they entered
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- upon
- yūsufa
- يُوسُفَ
- Yusuf
- āwā
- ءَاوَىٰٓ
- he took
- ilayhi
- إِلَيْهِ
- to himself
- akhāhu
- أَخَاهُۖ
- his brother
- qāla
- قَالَ
- He said
- innī
- إِنِّىٓ
- "Indeed I
- anā
- أَنَا۠
- [I] am
- akhūka
- أَخُوكَ
- your brother
- falā
- فَلَا
- so (do) not
- tabta-is
- تَبْتَئِسْ
- grieve
- bimā
- بِمَا
- for what
- kānū
- كَانُوا۟
- they used (to)
- yaʿmalūna
- يَعْمَلُونَ
- do"
And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his brother to himself; he said, "Indeed, I am your brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me]." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 69)Tafsir
فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُمْ بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ السِّقَايَةَ فِيْ رَحْلِ اَخِيْهِ ثُمَّ اَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ اَيَّتُهَا الْعِيْرُ اِنَّكُمْ لَسَارِقُوْنَ ٧٠
- falammā
- فَلَمَّا
- So when
- jahhazahum
- جَهَّزَهُم
- he had furnished them
- bijahāzihim
- بِجَهَازِهِمْ
- with their supplies
- jaʿala
- جَعَلَ
- he put
- l-siqāyata
- ٱلسِّقَايَةَ
- the drinking cup
- fī
- فِى
- in
- raḥli
- رَحْلِ
- the bag
- akhīhi
- أَخِيهِ
- (of) his brother
- thumma
- ثُمَّ
- Then
- adhana
- أَذَّنَ
- called out
- mu-adhinun
- مُؤَذِّنٌ
- an announcer
- ayyatuhā
- أَيَّتُهَا
- "O you
- l-ʿīru
- ٱلْعِيرُ
- (in) the caravan!
- innakum
- إِنَّكُمْ
- Indeed you
- lasāriqūna
- لَسَٰرِقُونَ
- surely (are) thieves"
So when he had furnished them with their supplies, he put the [gold measuring] bowl into the bag of his brother. Then an announcer called out, "O caravan, indeed you are thieves." (QS. [12] Yusuf: 70)Tafsir
