Surah Al-Masad - Word by Word
(The Palm Fiber)
            1
        
        تَبَّتْ يَدَآ اَبِيْ لَهَبٍ وَّتَبَّۗ ١
- tabbat
 - تَبَّتْ
 - Perish
 
- yadā
 - يَدَآ
 - (the) hands
 
- abī
 - أَبِى
 - (of) Abu
 
- lahabin
 - لَهَبٍ
 - Lahab
 
- watabba
 - وَتَبَّ
 - and perish he
 
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he. (QS. [111] Al-Masad: 1)Tafsir

        مَآ اَغْنٰى عَنْهُ مَالُهٗ وَمَا كَسَبَۗ ٢
- mā
 - مَآ
 - Not
 
- aghnā
 - أَغْنَىٰ
 - (will) avail
 
- ʿanhu
 - عَنْهُ
 - him
 
- māluhu
 - مَالُهُۥ
 - his wealth
 
- wamā
 - وَمَا
 - and what
 
- kasaba
 - كَسَبَ
 - he earned
 
His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. (QS. [111] Al-Masad: 2)Tafsir

        سَيَصْلٰى نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۙ ٣
- sayaṣlā
 - سَيَصْلَىٰ
 - He will be burnt
 
- nāran
 - نَارًا
 - (in) a Fire
 
- dhāta
 - ذَاتَ
 - of
 
- lahabin
 - لَهَبٍ
 - Blazing Flames
 
He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame (QS. [111] Al-Masad: 3)Tafsir

        وَّامْرَاَتُهٗ ۗحَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِۚ ٤
- wa-im'ra-atuhu
 - وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ
 - And his wife
 
- ḥammālata
 - حَمَّالَةَ
 - (the) carrier
 
- l-ḥaṭabi
 - ٱلْحَطَبِ
 - (of) firewood
 
And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood. (QS. [111] Al-Masad: 4)Tafsir

        فِيْ جِيْدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّنْ مَّسَدٍ ࣖ ٥
- fī
 - فِى
 - Around
 
- jīdihā
 - جِيدِهَا
 - her neck
 
- ḥablun
 - حَبْلٌ
 - (will be) a rope
 
- min
 - مِّن
 - of
 
- masadin
 - مَّسَدٍۭ
 - palm-fiber
 
Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber. (QS. [111] Al-Masad: 5)Tafsir
