Al-Qur'an Surah Hud Verse 75
Hud [11]: 75 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
اِنَّ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ لَحَلِيْمٌ اَوَّاهٌ مُّنِيْبٌ (هود : ١١)
- inna
- إِنَّ
- Indeed
- ib'rāhīma
- إِبْرَٰهِيمَ
- Ibrahim
- laḥalīmun
- لَحَلِيمٌ
- (was) certainly forbearing
- awwāhun
- أَوَّٰهٌ
- imploring
- munībun
- مُّنِيبٌ
- and oft-returning
Transliteration:
Inna Ibraaheema lahaleemun awwwaahum muneeb(QS. Hūd:75)
English / Sahih Translation:
Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving and [frequently] returning [to Allah]. (QS. Hud, ayah 75)

They said, `No'. He said, `Would you destroy a town in which there are 200 believers?' They said, `No'. He said, `Would you destroy a town in which there are 40 believers?' They said, `No'. He said, `Would you destroy a town in which there are 14 believers?' They said, `No'. He said, `What if there were one believer in it?' They said, `No'. He said, `Lot is in it'. They said, `We know full well who is in it' ... to the end [of the narrative].
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
Verily, Ibrahim was, without doubt, forbearing, used to invoke Allah with humility, and was repentant (to Allah).
This is a commendation for Ibrahim because of these beautiful characteristics.
