Al-Qur'an Surah Hud Verse 50

Mufti Taqi Usmani

And to ‘Ād, (We sent) their brother Hūd. He said, “O my people, worship Allah. You have no god other than Him. You are nothing but fabricators.

English Literal

And to Aad, their brother Hoodan/Hood, he said: "You (my) nation, worship God (there is) not for you from a God other than Him, that you are except fabricators/cutters and splitters.

And towards the people of A’ad, their fellow man Hud; he said, "O my people! Worship Allah - there is no other True God except Him; you are purely fabricators."

And, We sent, to `d their brother, from the tribe, Hd. He said, `O my people, worship God!, affirm His Oneness. You have no god (min ilhin; min is extra) other than He. You, in your worship of graven images, do but invent, [you do but] invent lies against God.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

The Story of Prophet Hud and the People of `Ad

Allah, the Exalted, says,

وَ

And,

This is an introductory to what is implied;"Verily, We sent."

إِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا

to the `Ad (people) their brother Hud.

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـهٍ غَيْرُهُ

إِنْ أَنتُمْ إِلاَّ مُفْتَرُونَ



He said, "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other god but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent lies!
Hud came to them commanding them to worship Allah alone, without any associates. He forbade them from worshipping the idols which they made up, inventing names as gods
