Al-Qur'an Surah Hud Verse 34

Hud [11]: 34 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَا يَنْفَعُكُمْ نُصْحِيْٓ اِنْ اَرَدْتُّ اَنْ اَنْصَحَ لَكُمْ اِنْ كَانَ اللّٰهُ يُرِيْدُ اَنْ يُّغْوِيَكُمْ ۗهُوَ رَبُّكُمْ ۗوَاِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَۗ (هود : ١١)

walā
وَلَا
And (will) not
yanfaʿukum
يَنفَعُكُمْ
benefit you

my advice

تُرْجَعُونَ
you will be returned"

Transliteration:

Wa laa yanfa'ukum nusheee in arattu an ansaha lakum in kaanal laahu yureedu ai yughwi yakum; Huwa Rabbukum wa ilaihi turja'oon (QS. Hūd:34)

English / Sahih Translation:

And my advice will not benefit you – although I wished to advise you – if Allah should intend to put you in error. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned." (QS. Hud, ayah 34)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

My good counsel will not profit you, even though I wish you the best, if Allah wills to let you go astray. He is your Lord, and to Him you shall be made to return.”

My advice will not benefit you—no matter how hard I try—if Allah wills ˹for˺ you to stray. He is your Lord, and to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned.”

Nor would my good counsel profit you, even though I wished to give you good counsel, if Allah willed to keep you astray. He is your Lord, and unto Him ye shall be returned.

"Of no profit will be my counsel to you, much as I desire to give you (good) counsel, if it be that Allah willeth to leave you astray; He is your Lord! and to Him will ye return!"

Abul Ala Maududi

If I want to give you good advice that will not profit you if Allah Himself has decided to let you go astray. He is your Lord, and to Him will you be returned.'

Ahmed Ali

Even if I wish to advise you aright, my counsel will not profit you if God intend that you go astray, for He is your Lord and to Him you will return."

"My counsel – much as I would counsel you – will not benefit you, if God has willed that you be and remain misguided. He is your Lord (Who created you, and nurtures, sustains and protects you), and you are on the way to return to Him."

`And my sincere counsel will do you no good, choose as I may to counsel you in case Allâh intends to destroy you. (All the same,) He is your Lord and to Him you shall be made to return.´

English Literal

And my advise does not benefit you, if I wanted/intended that I advise for you, if God was wanting/willing that He misguides/lures you, He is your Lord, and to Him you are being returned.

"And my advice will not benefit you if I wish you good, when Allah wills to keep you astray; He is your Lord and to Him you will return."

Said he, "Allah will only bring it on you when He pleases, nor can you make Him helpless (frustrate Him);

Nor will my sincere counsel benefit you if I sincerely desire to counsel you if Allah desires to lead you astray. He is your Lord, and to Him you shall return'

Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri

"And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allah's will is to keep you astray. He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return."

Wahiduddin Khan

My advice will not benefit you, no matter how sincerely I want to advise you, if God lets you go astray. He is your Lord and you will all return to Him."

Talal Itani

“My advice will not benefit you, much as I may want to advise you, if God desires to confound you. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned.”

Tafsir jalalayn

And my counsel will not benefit you if I desire to counsel you when God desires to keep you astray (the response to the conditional is indicated by wa-l yanfa`ukum nush, `and my counsel will not benefit you'). He is your Lord and to Him you will be brought back'.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلَا يَنفَعُكُمْ نُصْحِي إِنْ أَرَدتُّ أَنْ أَنصَحَ لَكُمْ إِن كَانَ اللّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يُغْوِيَكُمْ

And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allah's will is to keep you astray.

This means;something that could be useful to you (in acceptance) of my preaching to you, warning you and advising you.

إِن كَانَ اللّهُ يُرِيدُ أَن يُغْوِيَكُمْ
(if Allah's will is to keep you astray),

This means;your deception and your ultimate destruction.

هُوَ رَبُّكُمْ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ



He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return.

He is the Owner of the finality of all matters. He is the Controller, the Judge, the Most Just and He does not do any injustice. Unto Him belongs the creation and the command. He is the Originator and the Repeater (of the creation). He is the Owner of this life and the Hereafter
