Al-Qur'an Surah Hud Verse 117
Hud [11]: 117 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ لِيُهْلِكَ الْقُرٰى بِظُلْمٍ وَّاَهْلُهَا مُصْلِحُوْنَ (هود : ١١)
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- would
- rabbuka
- رَبُّكَ
- your Lord
- liyuh'lika
- لِيُهْلِكَ
- destroy
- l-qurā
- ٱلْقُرَىٰ
- the cities
- biẓul'min
- بِظُلْمٍ
- unjustly
- wa-ahluhā
- وَأَهْلُهَا
- while its people
- muṣ'liḥūna
- مُصْلِحُونَ
- (were) reformers
Transliteration:
Wa maa kaana Rabbuka liyuhlikal quraa bizulminw wa ahluhaa muslihoon(QS. Hūd:117)
English / Sahih Translation:
And your Lord would not have destroyed the cities unjustly while their people were reformers. (QS. Hud, ayah 117)

Tafseer Ibn Kathir
And your Lord would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were doers of good.
Allah informs that he does not destroy any town, except that it has wronged itself. No correctional punishment or torment comes to any town, except that its people were wrongdoers. This is as Allah says,
وَمَا ظَلَمْنَـهُمْ وَلَـكِن ظَلَمُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ
We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. (11;101)
Allah also says,
وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّـمٍ لِّلْعَبِيدِ
And your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) servants. (41;46)
