Al-Qur'an Surah Hud Verse 113

Hud [11]: 113 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

وَلَا تَرْكَنُوْٓا اِلَى الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُۙ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِ مِنْ اَوْلِيَاۤءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْصَرُوْنَ (هود : ١١)

you will be helped

Transliteration:

Wa laa tarkanooo ilal lazeena zalamoo fatamassa kumun Naaru wa maa lakum min doonil laahi min awliyaaa'a summa laa tunsaroon (QS. Hūd:113)

English / Sahih Translation:

And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire, and you would not have other than Allah any protectors; then you would not be helped. (QS. Hud, ayah 113)

Mufti Taqi Usmani

And do not incline towards the wrongdoers, lest the Fire should catch you, and you have no supporters other than Allah, then you should not be helped.

And do not be inclined to the wrongdoers or you will be touched by the Fire. For then you would have no protectors other than Allah, nor would you be helped.

Do not lean towards the wicked, or you will be caught in the flames of Hell, and have none to befriend you other than God, nor will you be given help.

And do not incline towards those who do wrong (against God by associating partners with Him and against people by violating their rights), or the Fire will touch you. For you have no guardians and true friends apart from God, (but if you should incline towards those who do wrong,) you will not be helped (by Him).

Do not incline towards those who have committed wrong; lest the Fire (of Gehenna) should reach you while you shall find none to protect you, apart from Allâh, nor shall you be helped.

English Literal

And do not lean towards to those who caused injustice/oppression, so the fire touches you, and (there are) no guardians/allies for you from other than God, then you (will) not be given victory/aid.

And do not incline towards the unjust, for the fire will touch you - and you do not have any supporter other than Allah - then you will not be helped.

So stand you firm in the Straight Path, as you are commanded - you and those who turn unto Allah with you, and transgress you not. Verily, He is Seer of what you do.

Continue then in the right way as thou art commanded, as also (should) those who turn (to Allah) with thee. And be not inordinate, (O men). Surely He is Seer of what you do.

And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor would you then be helped.

Do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire touch you. For [then] you would have none to protect you from God, and you will not be helped.

And do not incline towards those who do wrong, or the Fire may touch you; and you will have no protectors besides God, and you will not be saved.

Tafsir jalalayn

And do not incline toward the evildoers, through affection or adulation, or [by showing] satisfaction with their actions, lest the Fire touch, smite, you, and you have, besides God, other than Him, no protectors (min awliy'; min is extra), to guard you from Him; and then you will not be helped, you will [not] be protected from His chastisement.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

وَلَا تَرْكَنُواْ إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ

And incline not toward those who do wrong,

Ali bin Abi Talhah said that Ibn Abbas said,

"Do not compromise with them."

Ibn Jarir said that Ibn Abbas said,

"Do not side with those who do wrong."

This is a good statement. This means,

"Do not seek assistance from wrongdoers, because it will be as if you are condoning their actions (of evil)."

فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ

وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاء ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ



lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped.

This means that you will not have besides Allah any friend who can save you, nor any helper who can remove you from His torment
