81

قَالُوْا يٰلُوْطُ اِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَنْ يَّصِلُوْٓا اِلَيْكَ فَاَسْرِ بِاَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِّنَ الَّيْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ اَحَدٌ اِلَّا امْرَاَتَكَۗ اِنَّهٗ مُصِيْبُهَا مَآ اَصَابَهُمْ ۗاِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ الصُّبْحُ ۗ اَلَيْسَ الصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيْبٍ ٨١

qālū
قَالُوا۟
They said
yālūṭu
يَٰلُوطُ
"O Lut!
innā
إِنَّا
Indeed, we
rusulu
رُسُلُ
(are) messengers
rabbika
رَبِّكَ
(of) your Lord
lan
لَن
never
yaṣilū
يَصِلُوٓا۟
they will reach
ilayka
إِلَيْكَۖ
you
fa-asri
فَأَسْرِ
So travel
bi-ahlika
بِأَهْلِكَ
with your family
biqiṭ'ʿin
بِقِطْعٍ
in a part
mina
مِّنَ
of
al-layli
ٱلَّيْلِ
the night
walā
وَلَا
and (let) not
yaltafit
يَلْتَفِتْ
look back
minkum
مِنكُمْ
anyone of you
aḥadun
أَحَدٌ
anyone of you
illā
إِلَّا
except
im'ra-ataka
ٱمْرَأَتَكَۖ
your wife
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed, it
muṣībuhā
مُصِيبُهَا
will strike her
مَآ
what
aṣābahum
أَصَابَهُمْۚ
will strike them
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
mawʿidahumu
مَوْعِدَهُمُ
their appointed time
l-ṣub'ḥu
ٱلصُّبْحُۚ
(is) morning
alaysa
أَلَيْسَ
Is not
l-ṣub'ḥu
ٱلصُّبْحُ
the morning
biqarībin
بِقَرِيبٍ
near?"
They [the angels] said, "O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; [therefore], they will never reach you. So set out with your family during a portion of the night and let not any among you look back – except your wife; indeed, she will be struck by that which strikes them. Indeed, their appointment is [for] the morning. Is not the morning near?" (QS. [11] Hud: 81)
Tafsir
82

فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ اَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَاَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةً مِّنْ سِجِّيْلٍ مَّنْضُوْدٍ ٨٢

falammā
فَلَمَّا
So when
jāa
جَآءَ
came
amrunā
أَمْرُنَا
Our Command
jaʿalnā
جَعَلْنَا
We made
ʿāliyahā
عَٰلِيَهَا
its upside
sāfilahā
سَافِلَهَا
its downside
wa-amṭarnā
وَأَمْطَرْنَا
and We rained
ʿalayhā
عَلَيْهَا
upon them
ḥijāratan
حِجَارَةً
stones
min
مِّن
of
sijjīlin
سِجِّيلٍ
baked clay
manḍūdin
مَّنضُودٍ
(in) layers
So when Our command came, We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay, [which were] (QS. [11] Hud: 82)
Tafsir
83

مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَۗ وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ بِبَعِيْدٍ ࣖ ٨٣

musawwamatan
مُّسَوَّمَةً
Marked
ʿinda
عِندَ
from
rabbika
رَبِّكَۖ
your Lord
wamā
وَمَا
And not
hiya
هِىَ
it
mina
مِنَ
(is) from
l-ẓālimīna
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers
bibaʿīdin
بِبَعِيدٍ
far
Marked from your Lord. And it [i.e., Allah's punishment] is not from the wrongdoers [very] far. (QS. [11] Hud: 83)
Tafsir
84

۞ وَاِلٰى مَدْيَنَ اَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۗقَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ اِلٰهٍ غَيْرُهٗ ۗوَلَا تَنْقُصُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيْزَانَ اِنِّيْٓ اَرٰىكُمْ بِخَيْرٍ وَّاِنِّيْٓ اَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيْطٍ ٨٤

wa-ilā
وَإِلَىٰ
And to
madyana
مَدْيَنَ
Madyan
akhāhum
أَخَاهُمْ
their brother
shuʿayban
شُعَيْبًاۚ
Shuaib
qāla
قَالَ
He said
yāqawmi
يَٰقَوْمِ
"O my people!
uʿ'budū
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
Worship
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مَا
not
lakum
لَكُم
(is) for you
min
مِّنْ
any
ilāhin
إِلَٰهٍ
god
ghayruhu
غَيْرُهُۥۖ
other than Him
walā
وَلَا
And (do) not
tanquṣū
تَنقُصُوا۟
decrease
l-mik'yāla
ٱلْمِكْيَالَ
(from) the measure
wal-mīzāna
وَٱلْمِيزَانَۚ
and the scale
innī
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
arākum
أَرَىٰكُم
see you
bikhayrin
بِخَيْرٍ
in prosperity
wa-innī
وَإِنِّىٓ
but indeed I
akhāfu
أَخَافُ
fear
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُمْ
for you
ʿadhāba
عَذَابَ
punishment
yawmin
يَوْمٍ
(of ) a Day
muḥīṭin
مُّحِيطٍ
all-encompassing
And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shuaib. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day. (QS. [11] Hud: 84)
Tafsir
85

وَيٰقَوْمِ اَوْفُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيْزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ اَشْيَاۤءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ مُفْسِدِيْنَ ٨٥

wayāqawmi
وَيَٰقَوْمِ
And O my people!
awfū
أَوْفُوا۟
Give full
l-mik'yāla
ٱلْمِكْيَالَ
measure
wal-mīzāna
وَٱلْمِيزَانَ
and weight
bil-qis'ṭi
بِٱلْقِسْطِۖ
in justice
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
tabkhasū
تَبْخَسُوا۟
deprive
l-nāsa
ٱلنَّاسَ
the people
ashyāahum
أَشْيَآءَهُمْ
(of) their things
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
taʿthaw
تَعْثَوْا۟
act wickedly
فِى
in
l-arḍi
ٱلْأَرْضِ
the earth
muf'sidīna
مُفْسِدِينَ
spreading corruption
And O my people, give full measure and weight in justice and do not deprive the people of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption. (QS. [11] Hud: 85)
Tafsir
86

بَقِيَّتُ اللّٰهِ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ ەۚ وَمَآ اَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُمْ بِحَفِيْظٍ ٨٦

baqiyyatu
بَقِيَّتُ
(What) remains
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
(from) Allah
khayrun
خَيْرٌ
(is) best
lakum
لَّكُمْ
for you
in
إِن
if
kuntum
كُنتُم
you are
mu'minīna
مُّؤْمِنِينَۚ
believers
wamā
وَمَآ
And not
anā
أَنَا۠
I am
ʿalaykum
عَلَيْكُم
over you
biḥafīẓin
بِحَفِيظٍ
a guardian"
What remains [lawful] from Allah is best for you, if you would be believers. But I am not a guardian over you." (QS. [11] Hud: 86)
Tafsir
87

قَالُوْا يٰشُعَيْبُ اَصَلٰوتُكَ تَأْمُرُكَ اَنْ نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ اٰبَاۤؤُنَآ اَوْ اَنْ نَّفْعَلَ فِيْٓ اَمْوَالِنَا مَا نَشٰۤؤُا ۗاِنَّكَ لَاَنْتَ الْحَلِيْمُ الرَّشِيْدُ ٨٧

قَالُوا۟
They said
yāshuʿaybu
يَٰشُعَيْبُ
"O Shuaib!
aṣalatuka
أَصَلَوٰتُكَ
Does your prayer
tamuruka
تَأْمُرُكَ
command you
an
أَن
that
natruka
نَّتْرُكَ
we leave
مَا
what
yaʿbudu
يَعْبُدُ
worship
ābāunā
ءَابَآؤُنَآ
our forefathers
aw
أَوْ
or
an
أَن
that
nafʿala
نَّفْعَلَ
we do
فِىٓ
concerning
amwālinā
أَمْوَٰلِنَا
our wealth
مَا
what
nashāu
نَشَٰٓؤُا۟ۖ
we will?
innaka
إِنَّكَ
Indeed you
la-anta
لَأَنتَ
surely you
l-ḥalīmu
ٱلْحَلِيمُ
(are) the forbearing
l-rashīdu
ٱلرَّشِيدُ
the right-minded"
They said, "O Shuaib, does your prayer [i.e., religion] command you that we should leave what our fathers worship or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed, you are the forbearing, the discerning!" (QS. [11] Hud: 87)
Tafsir
88

قَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اَرَءَيْتُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُ عَلٰى بَيِّنَةٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّيْ وَرَزَقَنِيْ مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا وَّمَآ اُرِيْدُ اَنْ اُخَالِفَكُمْ اِلٰى مَآ اَنْهٰىكُمْ عَنْهُ ۗاِنْ اُرِيْدُ اِلَّا الْاِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُۗ وَمَا تَوْفِيْقِيْٓ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ ۗعَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَاِلَيْهِ اُنِيْبُ ٨٨

قَالَ
He said
yāqawmi
يَٰقَوْمِ
"O my people!
ara-aytum
أَرَءَيْتُمْ
Do you see
in
إِن
if
kuntu
كُنتُ
I am
ʿalā
عَلَىٰ
on
bayyinatin
بَيِّنَةٍ
a clear evidence
min
مِّن
from
rabbī
رَّبِّى
my Lord
warazaqanī
وَرَزَقَنِى
and He has provided me
min'hu
مِنْهُ
from Himself
riz'qan
رِزْقًا
a good provision?
ḥasanan
حَسَنًاۚ
a good provision?
wamā
وَمَآ
And not
urīdu
أُرِيدُ
I intend
an
أَنْ
that
ukhālifakum
أُخَالِفَكُمْ
I differ from you
ilā
إِلَىٰ
in
مَآ
what
anhākum
أَنْهَىٰكُمْ
I forbid you
ʿanhu
عَنْهُۚ
from it
in
إِنْ
Not
urīdu
أُرِيدُ
I intend
illā
إِلَّا
except
l-iṣ'lāḥa
ٱلْإِصْلَٰحَ
the reform
مَا
as much as I am able
is'taṭaʿtu
ٱسْتَطَعْتُۚ
as much as I am able
wamā
وَمَا
And not
tawfīqī
تَوْفِيقِىٓ
(is) my success
illā
إِلَّا
except
bil-lahi
بِٱللَّهِۚ
with Allah
ʿalayhi
عَلَيْهِ
Upon Him
tawakkaltu
تَوَكَّلْتُ
I trust
wa-ilayhi
وَإِلَيْهِ
and to Him
unību
أُنِيبُ
I turn
He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him...? And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah. Upon Him I have relied, and to Him I return. (QS. [11] Hud: 88)
Tafsir
89

وَيٰقَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِيْٓ اَنْ يُّصِيْبَكُمْ مِّثْلُ مَآ اَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوْحٍ اَوْ قَوْمَ هُوْدٍ اَوْ قَوْمَ صٰلِحٍ ۗوَمَا قَوْمُ لُوْطٍ مِّنْكُمْ بِبَعِيْدٍ ٨٩

wayāqawmi
وَيَٰقَوْمِ
And O my people!
لَا
(Let) not cause you to sin
yajrimannakum
يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ
(Let) not cause you to sin
shiqāqī
شِقَاقِىٓ
my dissension
an
أَن
lest
yuṣībakum
يُصِيبَكُم
befalls you
mith'lu
مِّثْلُ
similar
مَآ
(to) what
aṣāba
أَصَابَ
befell
qawma
قَوْمَ
(the) people of Nuh
nūḥin
نُوحٍ
(the) people of Nuh
aw
أَوْ
or
qawma
قَوْمَ
(the) people of Hud
hūdin
هُودٍ
(the) people of Hud
aw
أَوْ
or
qawma
قَوْمَ
people of Salih
ṣāliḥin
صَٰلِحٍۚ
people of Salih
wamā
وَمَا
And not
qawmu
قَوْمُ
(are the) people of Lut
lūṭin
لُوطٍ
(are the) people of Lut
minkum
مِّنكُم
from you
bibaʿīdin
بِبَعِيدٍ
far off
And O my people, let not [your] dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Saleh. And the people of Lot are not from you far away. (QS. [11] Hud: 89)
Tafsir
90

وَاسْتَغْفِرُوْا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوْبُوْٓا اِلَيْهِ ۗاِنَّ رَبِّيْ رَحِيْمٌ وَّدُوْدٌ ٩٠

wa-is'taghfirū
وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟
And ask forgiveness
rabbakum
رَبَّكُمْ
(of) your Lord
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
tūbū
تُوبُوٓا۟
turn in repentance
ilayhi
إِلَيْهِۚ
to Him
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
raḥīmun
رَحِيمٌ
(is) Most Merciful
wadūdun
وَدُودٌ
Most Loving"
And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate." (QS. [11] Hud: 90)
