(Hud)

41

۞ وَقَالَ ارْكَبُوْا فِيْهَا بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ مَجْرٰ۪ىهَا وَمُرْسٰىهَا ۗاِنَّ رَبِّيْ لَغَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ ٤١

waqāla
وَقَالَ
And he said
ir'kabū
ٱرْكَبُوا۟
"Embark
fīhā
فِيهَا
in it
bis'mi
بِسْمِ
in the name
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
of Allah
majrahā
مَجْر۪ىٰهَا
(is) its course
wamur'sāhā
وَمُرْسَىٰهَآۚ
and its anchorage
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
rabbī
رَبِّى
my Lord
laghafūrun
لَغَفُورٌ
(is) certainly Oft-Forgiving
raḥīmun
رَّحِيمٌ
Most Merciful"
And [Noah] said, "Embark therein; in the name of Allah [are] its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful." (QS. [11] Hud: 41)
Tafsir
42

وَهِيَ تَجْرِيْ بِهِمْ فِيْ مَوْجٍ كَالْجِبَالِۗ وَنَادٰى نُوْحُ ِۨابْنَهٗ وَكَانَ فِيْ مَعْزِلٍ يّٰبُنَيَّ ارْكَبْ مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَكُنْ مَّعَ الْكٰفِرِيْنَ ٤٢

wahiya
وَهِىَ
And it
tajrī
تَجْرِى
sailed
bihim
بِهِمْ
with them
فِى
on
mawjin
مَوْجٍ
the waves
kal-jibāli
كَٱلْجِبَالِ
like mountains
wanādā
وَنَادَىٰ
and Nuh called out
nūḥun
نُوحٌ
and Nuh called out
ib'nahu
ٱبْنَهُۥ
(to) his son
wakāna
وَكَانَ
and he was
فِى
[in]
maʿzilin
مَعْزِلٍ
apart
yābunayya
يَٰبُنَىَّ
"O my son!
ir'kab
ٱرْكَب
Embark
maʿanā
مَّعَنَا
with us
walā
وَلَا
and (do) not
takun
تَكُن
be
maʿa
مَّعَ
with
l-kāfirīna
ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ
the disbelievers"
And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers." (QS. [11] Hud: 42)
Tafsir
43

قَالَ سَاٰوِيْٓ اِلٰى جَبَلٍ يَّعْصِمُنِيْ مِنَ الْمَاۤءِ ۗقَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ اَمْرِ اللّٰهِ اِلَّا مَنْ رَّحِمَ ۚوَحَالَ بَيْنَهُمَا الْمَوْجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُغْرَقِيْنَ ٤٣

qāla
قَالَ
He said
saāwī
سَـَٔاوِىٓ
"I will betake myself
ilā
إِلَىٰ
to
jabalin
جَبَلٍ
a mountain
yaʿṣimunī
يَعْصِمُنِى
(that) will save me
mina
مِنَ
from
l-māi
ٱلْمَآءِۚ
the water"
qāla
قَالَ
He said
لَا
"(There is) no
ʿāṣima
عَاصِمَ
protector
l-yawma
ٱلْيَوْمَ
today
min
مِنْ
from
amri
أَمْرِ
the Command of Allah
l-lahi
ٱللَّهِ
the Command of Allah
illā
إِلَّا
except
man
مَن
(on) whom
raḥima
رَّحِمَۚ
He has mercy"
waḥāla
وَحَالَ
And came
baynahumā
بَيْنَهُمَا
(in) between them
l-mawju
ٱلْمَوْجُ
the waves
fakāna
فَكَانَ
so he was
mina
مِنَ
among
l-mugh'raqīna
ٱلْمُغْرَقِينَ
the drowned
[But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned. (QS. [11] Hud: 43)
Tafsir
44

وَقِيْلَ يٰٓاَرْضُ ابْلَعِيْ مَاۤءَكِ وَيَا سَمَاۤءُ اَقْلِعِيْ وَغِيْضَ الْمَاۤءُ وَقُضِيَ الْاَمْرُ وَاسْتَوَتْ عَلَى الْجُوْدِيِّ وَقِيْلَ بُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ ٤٤

وَقِيلَ
And it was said
yāarḍu
يَٰٓأَرْضُ
"O earth!
ib'laʿī
ٱبْلَعِى
Swallow
māaki
مَآءَكِ
your water
wayāsamāu
وَيَٰسَمَآءُ
and O sky!
aqliʿī
أَقْلِعِى
Withhold"
waghīḍa
وَغِيضَ
And subsided
l-māu
ٱلْمَآءُ
the water
waquḍiya
وَقُضِىَ
and was fulfilled
l-amru
ٱلْأَمْرُ
the Command
wa-is'tawat
وَٱسْتَوَتْ
And it rested
ʿalā
عَلَى
on
l-jūdiyi
ٱلْجُودِىِّۖ
the Judi
waqīla
وَقِيلَ
And it was said
buʿ'dan
بُعْدًا
"Away
lil'qawmi
لِّلْقَوْمِ
with the people
l-ẓālimīna
ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
the wrongdoers"
And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and it [i.e., the ship] came to rest on the [mountain of] J´diyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people." (QS. [11] Hud: 44)
Tafsir
45

وَنَادٰى نُوْحٌ رَّبَّهٗ فَقَالَ رَبِّ اِنَّ ابْنِيْ مِنْ اَهْلِيْۚ وَاِنَّ وَعْدَكَ الْحَقُّ وَاَنْتَ اَحْكَمُ الْحٰكِمِيْنَ ٤٥

وَنَادَىٰ
And Nuh called
nūḥun
نُوحٌ
And Nuh called
rabbahu
رَّبَّهُۥ
(to) his Lord
faqāla
فَقَالَ
and said
rabbi
رَبِّ
"O my Lord!
inna
إِنَّ
Indeed
ib'nī
ٱبْنِى
my son
min
مِنْ
(is) of
ahlī
أَهْلِى
my family
wa-inna
وَإِنَّ
and indeed
waʿdaka
وَعْدَكَ
Your promise
l-ḥaqu
ٱلْحَقُّ
(is) true
wa-anta
وَأَنتَ
and You
aḥkamu
أَحْكَمُ
(are) the Most Just
l-ḥākimīna
ٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ
(of) the judges"
And Noah called to his Lord and said, "My Lord, indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true; and You are the most just of judges!" (QS. [11] Hud: 45)
Tafsir
46

قَالَ يٰنُوْحُ اِنَّهٗ لَيْسَ مِنْ اَهْلِكَ ۚاِنَّهٗ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَالِحٍ فَلَا تَسْـَٔلْنِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهٖ عِلْمٌ ۗاِنِّيْٓ اَعِظُكَ اَنْ تَكُوْنَ مِنَ الْجٰهِلِيْنَ ٤٦

قَالَ
He said
yānūḥu
يَٰنُوحُ
"O Nuh!
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
Indeed he
laysa
لَيْسَ
(is) not
min
مِنْ
of
ahlika
أَهْلِكَۖ
your family;
innahu
إِنَّهُۥ
indeed [he]
ʿamalun
عَمَلٌ
(his) deed
ghayru
غَيْرُ
(is) other than
ṣāliḥin
صَٰلِحٍۖ
righteous
falā
فَلَا
so (do) not
tasalni
تَسْـَٔلْنِ
ask Me
مَا
(about) what
laysa
لَيْسَ
not
laka
لَكَ
you have
bihi
بِهِۦ
of it
ʿil'mun
عِلْمٌۖ
any knowledge
innī
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
aʿiẓuka
أَعِظُكَ
admonish you
an
أَن
lest
takūna
تَكُونَ
you be
mina
مِنَ
among
l-jāhilīna
ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ
the ignorant"
He said, "O Noah, indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous, so ask Me not for that about which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant." (QS. [11] Hud: 46)
Tafsir
47

قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّيْٓ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ اَنْ اَسْـَٔلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِيْ بِهٖ عِلْمٌ ۗوَاِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِيْ وَتَرْحَمْنِيْٓ اَكُنْ مِّنَ الْخٰسِرِيْنَ ٤٧

قَالَ
He said
rabbi
رَبِّ
"O my Lord!
innī
إِنِّىٓ
Indeed I
aʿūdhu
أَعُوذُ
seek refuge
bika
بِكَ
in You
an
أَنْ
that
asalaka
أَسْـَٔلَكَ
I (should) ask You
مَا
what
laysa
لَيْسَ
not
لِى
I have
bihi
بِهِۦ
of it
ʿil'mun
عِلْمٌۖ
knowledge
wa-illā
وَإِلَّا
And unless
taghfir
تَغْفِرْ
You forgive
لِى
me
watarḥamnī
وَتَرْحَمْنِىٓ
and You have mercy on me
akun
أَكُن
I will be
mina
مِّنَ
among
l-khāsirīna
ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
the losers"
[Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers." (QS. [11] Hud: 47)
Tafsir
48

قِيْلَ يٰنُوْحُ اهْبِطْ بِسَلٰمٍ مِّنَّا وَبَرَكٰتٍ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلٰٓى اُمَمٍ مِّمَّنْ مَّعَكَ ۗوَاُمَمٌ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ ثُمَّ يَمَسُّهُمْ مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ اَلِيْمٌ ٤٨

قِيلَ
It was said
yānūḥu
يَٰنُوحُ
"O Nuh!
ih'biṭ
ٱهْبِطْ
Go down
bisalāmin
بِسَلَٰمٍ
with peace
minnā
مِّنَّا
from Us
wabarakātin
وَبَرَكَٰتٍ
and blessings
ʿalayka
عَلَيْكَ
on you
waʿalā
وَعَلَىٰٓ
and on
umamin
أُمَمٍ
the nations
mimman
مِّمَّن
from those
maʿaka
مَّعَكَۚ
with you
wa-umamun
وَأُمَمٌ
But (to other) nations
sanumattiʿuhum
سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ
We will grant enjoyment;
thumma
ثُمَّ
then
yamassuhum
يَمَسُّهُم
will touch them
minnā
مِّنَّا
from Us
ʿadhābun
عَذَابٌ
a punishment
alīmun
أَلِيمٌ
painful"
It was said, "O Noah, disembark in security from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you. But other nations [of them] We will grant enjoyment; then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment." (QS. [11] Hud: 48)
Tafsir
49

تِلْكَ مِنْ اَنْۢبَاۤءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوْحِيْهَآ اِلَيْكَ ۚمَا كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُهَآ اَنْتَ وَلَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ هٰذَاۚ فَاصْبِرْۚ اِنَّ الْعَاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ ࣖ ٤٩

تِلْكَ
This
min
مِنْ
(is) from
anbāi
أَنۢبَآءِ
the news
l-ghaybi
ٱلْغَيْبِ
(of) the unseen
nūḥīhā
نُوحِيهَآ
(which) We reveal
ilayka
إِلَيْكَۖ
to you
مَا
Not
kunta
كُنتَ
you were
taʿlamuhā
تَعْلَمُهَآ
knowing it
anta
أَنتَ
you
walā
وَلَا
and not
qawmuka
قَوْمُكَ
your people
min
مِن
from
qabli
قَبْلِ
before
hādhā
هَٰذَاۖ
this
fa-iṣ'bir
فَٱصْبِرْۖ
So be patient
inna
إِنَّ
indeed
l-ʿāqibata
ٱلْعَٰقِبَةَ
the end
lil'muttaqīna
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
(is) for the God fearing"
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous. (QS. [11] Hud: 49)
Tafsir
50

وَاِلٰى عَادٍ اَخَاهُمْ هُوْدًا ۗقَالَ يٰقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ اِلٰهٍ غَيْرُهٗ ۗاِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا مُفْتَرُوْنَ ٥٠

wa-ilā
وَإِلَىٰ
And to
ʿādin
عَادٍ
Aad
akhāhum
أَخَاهُمْ
(We sent) their brother
hūdan
هُودًاۚ
Hud
qāla
قَالَ
He said
yāqawmi
يَٰقَوْمِ
"O my people!
uʿ'budū
ٱعْبُدُوا۟
Worship
l-laha
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
مَا
not
lakum
لَكُم
(is) for you
min
مِّنْ
any
ilāhin
إِلَٰهٍ
god
ghayruhu
غَيْرُهُۥٓۖ
other than Him
in
إِنْ
Not
antum
أَنتُمْ
you
illā
إِلَّا
(are) but
muf'tarūna
مُفْتَرُونَ
inventors
And to Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood]. (QS. [11] Hud: 50)
Tafsir
