Surah Al-Ma'un - Word by Word
(The Small kindnesses)
1
اَرَءَيْتَ الَّذِيْ يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّيْنِۗ ١
- ara-ayta
- أَرَءَيْتَ
- Have you seen
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- the one who
- yukadhibu
- يُكَذِّبُ
- denies
- bil-dīni
- بِٱلدِّينِ
- the Judgment?
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 1)Tafsir

فَذٰلِكَ الَّذِيْ يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيْمَۙ ٢
- fadhālika
- فَذَٰلِكَ
- Then that
- alladhī
- ٱلَّذِى
- (is) the one who
- yaduʿʿu
- يَدُعُّ
- repulses
- l-yatīma
- ٱلْيَتِيمَ
- the orphan
For that is the one who drives away the orphan. (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 2)Tafsir
3
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلٰى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِيْنِۗ ٣
- walā
- وَلَا
- And (does) not
- yaḥuḍḍu
- يَحُضُّ
- feel the urge
- ʿalā
- عَلَىٰ
- to
- ṭaʿāmi
- طَعَامِ
- feed
- l-mis'kīni
- ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
- the poor
And does not encourage the feeding of the poor. (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 3)Tafsir
4
فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّيْنَۙ ٤
- fawaylun
- فَوَيْلٌ
- So woe
- lil'muṣallīna
- لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ
- to those who pray
So woe to those who pray . (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 4)Tafsir
5
الَّذِيْنَ هُمْ عَنْ صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُوْنَۙ ٥
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- Those who
- hum
- هُمْ
- [they]
- ʿan
- عَن
- of
- ṣalātihim
- صَلَاتِهِمْ
- their prayers
- sāhūna
- سَاهُونَ
- (are) neglectful
[But] who are heedless of their prayer. (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 5)Tafsir
6
الَّذِيْنَ هُمْ يُرَاۤءُوْنَۙ ٦
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- Those who
- hum
- هُمْ
- [they]
- yurāūna
- يُرَآءُونَ
- make show
Those who make show [of their deeds] (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 6)Tafsir
7
وَيَمْنَعُوْنَ الْمَاعُوْنَ ࣖ ٧
- wayamnaʿūna
- وَيَمْنَعُونَ
- And they deny
- l-māʿūna
- ٱلْمَاعُونَ
- [the] small kindness
And withhold [simple] assistance. (QS. [107] Al-Ma'un: 7)Tafsir
