Al-Qur'an Surah Al-'Adiyat Verse 5

Al-'Adiyat [100]: 5 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهٖ جَمْعًاۙ (العاديات : ١٠٠)

fawasaṭna
فَوَسَطْنَ
Then penetrate (in the) center
bihi
بِهِۦ
thereby
jamʿan
جَمْعًا
(of) troops

Transliteration:

Fawa satna bihee jam'a (QS. al-ʿĀdiyāt:5)

English / Sahih Translation:

Arriving thereby in the center collectively, (QS. Al-'Adiyat, ayah 5)

then enter, at the same time, into the centre of the (opposing) host,

Tafsir jalalayn

cleaving therewith, with the dust, a host, of the enemy, that is to say, cutting right into their centre! (the verb is supplemented to the noun [in the above instances] because it serves to explain the verbal action, in other words, wa'llt `adawna fa-awrayna fa-agharna, `by those that charge, then strike sparks, then raid').

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

And penetrating forthwith as one into the midst.

means, then are all in the middle of that spot, together.

Allah's saying;
فَالْمُغِيرَتِ صُبْحاً
(And scouring to the raid at dawn), Ibn Abbas, Mujahid and Qatadah, all said,

"This means the invasion of the horses in the morning in the way of Allah."

And His statement,
فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعاً
(And raise the dust in clouds the while),

This is the place in which the attack takes place. The dust is stirred up by it.

And His statement,
فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعاً
(And penetrating forthwith as one into the midst), Al-Awfi narrated from Ibn Abbas, Ata, Ikrimah, Qatadah and Ad-Dahhak that they all said,

"This means into the midst of the disbelieving enemy."

Concerning Allah's statement,

إِنَّ الاِْنسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ
