Al-Qur'an Surah Yunus Verse 81

Yunus [10]: 81 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

فَلَمَّآ اَلْقَوْا قَالَ مُوْسٰى مَا جِئْتُمْ بِهِ ۙالسِّحْرُۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَيُبْطِلُهٗۗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ ࣖ (يونس : ١٠)

Then when

(of) the corrupters

Transliteration:

Falammaaa alqaw qaala Moosaa maa ji'tum bihis sihru innal laaha sa yubtiluhoo innal laaha laa yuslihu 'amalal mufsideen (QS. al-Yūnus:81)

English / Sahih Translation:

And when they had thrown, Moses said, "What you have brought is [only] magic. Indeed, Allah will expose its worthlessness. Indeed, Allah does not amend the work of corrupters. (QS. Yunus, ayah 81)

So, when they had cast, Mūsā said, “All that you have brought is magic. Allah will certainly bring it to naught. Be assured that Allah does not set right the work of the mischief-makers.”

When they did, Moses said, “What you have produced is mere magic, Allah will surely make it useless, for Allah certainly does not set right the work of the corruptors.

Then when they had cast (their staffs), Moses said: 'What you have produced is sheer sorcery. Allah will certainly reduce it to naught. Surely Allah does not set right the work of the mischief-makers.

When they had cast (their spell) Moses said: "What you have cast is only a charm which God will surely nullify. God does not verily render the deeds of evil-doers righteous.

Therefore when they had cast, Moosa said, “This what you have brought, is magic; Allah will now make it void; indeed Allah does not make the works of the mischievous successful.”

So when they threw down [their sticks and ropes], Moses said, ‘What you have produced is magic. Indeed Allah will bring it to naught presently. Indeed Allah does not foster the efforts of those who cause corruption.

When they had thrown (whatever they had in their hands and produced a mighty sorcery), Moses said: "What you have brought is but sorcery. Surely God will bring it to nothing and prove it false. God never validates and sets right the work of those who cause disorder and corruption.

Amatul Rahman Omar

Then, when they had presented (what they would present), Moses said, `What you have brought is a mere deception. Allâh will soon render it void (because) Allâh does not at all allow the machination of the mischief-makers to thrive.

English Literal

So when they threw/threw away Moses said: "What the magic/sorcery you came with it, that truly God will waste/annul/cancel it, that truly God does not correct/repair (the) deeds (of) the corrupting."

Therefore when they had cast, Moosa said, "This what you have brought, is magic; Allah will now make it void; indeed Allah does not make the works of the mischievous successful."

And when the sorcerers came, Moses said to them, "Cast the spells you have to cast."

Then when they had cast down, Musa (Moses) said: "What you have brought is sorcery, Allah will surely make it of no effect. Verily, Allah does not set right the work of Al-Mufsidun (the evil-doers, corrupts, etc.).

So when the enchanters came. Moses said to them: Cast what you are going to cast.

When the magicians had thrown theirs, Moses said, "What you have performed is magic. God will certainly prove it to be false; He will not make the deeds of the corrupt people righteous.

Then when they had cast down, Musa said: "What you have brought is sorcery, Allah will surely make it of no effect. Verily, Allah does not set right the work of the evildoers.

And when they had done so, Moses said, "What you have wrought is mere sorcery. Surely, God will bring it to nothing. Truly, God does not support the work of mischief-makers;

And when they threw, Moses said, “What you produced is sorcery, and God will make it fail. God does not foster the efforts of the corrupt.”

Tafsir jalalayn

Then, when they had cast, their ropes and staffs, Moses said, `What (m is interrogative and the subject, its predicate being [the following, ji'tum bihi]) have you brought? Sorcery? ('l-sihru [a-al-sihru] is a substitute [for the predicate ji'tum bihi, `have you brought']; a variant reading has al-sihru with a single hamza, making it predicative, in which case m is the relative particle of the subject) Verily God will bring it to nothing, He will efface it. Truly God does not make right the work of those who do corruption.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

فَلَمَّا أَلْقَواْ قَالَ مُوسَى

Then when they had cast down, Musa said;

مَا جِيْتُم بِهِ السِّحْرُ إِنَّ اللّهَ سَيُبْطِلُهُ إِنَّ اللّهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ



وَيُحِقُّ اللّهُ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ
