Yunus [10]: 75 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ مُّوْسٰى وَهٰرُوْنَ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَا۟ىِٕهٖ بِاٰيٰتِنَا فَاسْتَكْبَرُوْا وَكَانُوْا قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِيْنَ (يونس : ١٠)

وَهَٰرُونَ

فِرْعَوْنَ
Firaun
wamala-ihi
وَمَلَإِي۟هِۦ
and his chiefs
biāyātinā
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا
with Our Signs
fa-is'takbarū
فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟
but they were arrogant
wakānū
وَكَانُوا۟
and were
qawman
قَوْمًا
a people
muj'rimīna
مُّجْرِمِينَ
criminal

Transliteration:

Summa ba'asnaa mim ba'dihim Moosaa Wa Haaroona ilaa Fir'awna wa mala'ihee bi aayaatinaa fastakbaroo wa kaanoo qawmam mujrimeen (QS. al-Yūnus:75)

English / Sahih Translation:

Then We sent after them Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his establishment with Our signs, but they behaved arrogantly and were a criminal people. (QS. Yunus, ayah 75)

Then, after them, We sent Mūsā and Hārūn with Our signs to Pharaoh and his group, but they showed arrogance. And they were surely a guilty people.

English Literal

Then (E) We sent from after them Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his nobles/groups/assembly with Our verses/evidences , so they became arrogant and they were a nation (of) criminals/sinners .

Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his council, that is, his folk, with Our, nine, signs, but they were disdainful, to believe in them, and were a sinful folk.

Tafseer Ibn Kathir

The Story of Musa and Fir`awn

Allah said;

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِم


Then after them We sent

meaning after these Messengers,

مُّوسَى وَهَارُونَ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَيِهِ

Musa and Harun to Fir`awn and his chiefs,

meaning his people

بِأيَاتِنَا

with Our Ayat.

meaning; `Our proofs and evidences.'

فَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ



But they behaved arrogantly, and were a people who were criminals.

meaning they were too arrogant to follow the truth and submit to it, and they were criminals.
