Al-Qur'an Surah Yunus Verse 100
Yunus [10]: 100 ~ English Qur'an Word By Word and Multi Tafseer
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ اَنْ تُؤْمِنَ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِ ۗوَيَجْعَلُ الرِّجْسَ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ لَا يَعْقِلُوْنَ (يونس : ١٠)
- wamā
- وَمَا
- And not
- kāna
- كَانَ
- is
- linafsin
- لِنَفْسٍ
- for a soul
- an
- أَن
- to
- tu'mina
- تُؤْمِنَ
- believe
- illā
- إِلَّا
- except
- bi-idh'ni
- بِإِذْنِ
- by (the) permission
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِۚ
- (of) Allah
- wayajʿalu
- وَيَجْعَلُ
- And He will place
- l-rij'sa
- ٱلرِّجْسَ
- the wrath
- ʿalā
- عَلَى
- on
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- those who
- lā
- لَا
- (do) not
- yaʿqilūna
- يَعْقِلُونَ
- use reason
Transliteration:
Wa maa kaana linafsin an tu'mina illaa bi iznil laah; wa yaj'alur rijsa 'alal lazeena laa ya'qiloon(QS. al-Yūnus:100)
English / Sahih Translation:
And it is not for a soul [i.e., anyone] to believe except by permission of Allah, and He will place defilement upon those who will not use reason. (QS. Yunus, ayah 100)

It is not (possible) for any one that he believes except with the will of Allah. And He makes filth settle on those who do not understand.

Tafsir jalalayn
And it is not for any soul to believe save by the permission of God, by His will, and He causes abomination, chastisement, to fall upon those who have no understanding, [those who do not] reflect upon God's signs.
Tafseer Ibn Kathir
وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ أَن تُوْمِنَ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ اللّهِ وَيَجْعَلُ الرِّجْسَ
It is not for any person to believe, except by the leave of Allah, and He will put the Rijs,
That is, disorder and misguidance,
عَلَى الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
upon those who do not reason.
meaning, Allah's proofs and evidences, and He is the Just in all matters, guiding whom He wills to guide, and leading whom He wills astray
