Surah Al-Fatihah - Word by Word
(The Opener)
1
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ ١
- bis'mi
- بِسْمِ
- In (the) name
- l-lahi
- ٱللَّهِ
- (of) Allah
- l-raḥmāni
- ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- the Most Gracious
- l-raḥīmi
- ٱلرَّحِيمِ
- the Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 1)Tafsir
2
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَۙ ٢
- al-ḥamdu
- ٱلْحَمْدُ
- All praises and thanks
- lillahi
- لِلَّهِ
- (be) to Allah
- rabbi
- رَبِّ
- (the) Lord
- l-ʿālamīna
- ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ
- (of all) the worlds
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds . (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 2)Tafsir
3
الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِۙ ٣
- al-raḥmāni
- ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ
- The Most Gracious
- l-raḥīmi
- ٱلرَّحِيمِ
- the Most Merciful
The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 3)Tafsir
4
مٰلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِۗ ٤
- māliki
- مَٰلِكِ
- Master
- yawmi
- يَوْمِ
- (of the) Day
- l-dīni
- ٱلدِّينِ
- (of) [the] Judgment
Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 4)Tafsir
5
اِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَاِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِيْنُۗ ٥
- iyyāka
- إِيَّاكَ
- You Alone
- naʿbudu
- نَعْبُدُ
- we worship
- wa-iyyāka
- وَإِيَّاكَ
- and You Alone
- nastaʿīnu
- نَسْتَعِينُ
- we ask for help
It is You we worship and You we ask for help. (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 5)Tafsir

اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيْمَ ۙ ٦
- ih'dinā
- ٱهْدِنَا
- Guide us
- l-ṣirāṭa
- ٱلصِّرَٰطَ
- (to) the path
- l-mus'taqīma
- ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
- the straight
Guide us to the straight path . (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 6)Tafsir
7
صِرَاطَ الَّذِيْنَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ ەۙ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّاۤلِّيْنَ ࣖ ٧
- ṣirāṭa
- صِرَٰطَ
- (The) path
- alladhīna
- ٱلَّذِينَ
- (of) those
- anʿamta
- أَنْعَمْتَ
- You have bestowed (Your) Favors
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- on them
- ghayri
- غَيْرِ
- not (of)
- l-maghḍūbi
- ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ
- those who earned (Your) wrath
- ʿalayhim
- عَلَيْهِمْ
- on themselves
- walā
- وَلَا
- and not
- l-ḍālīna
- ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
- (of) those who go astray
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray. (QS. [1] Al-Fatihah: 7)Tafsir
